Not sure why so many have slated this film, I enjoyed it. It's not the funniest or cleverest film ever, but it did make me laugh. I loved that the film and Antonio Banderas didn't take themselves seriously and seemed to have had a great time making it. No llamas or dolphins were hurt in the film and the hunters got theirs! A fun light hearted movie that will entertain.
Everything about this quirky movie was good. I am not one to get bored but lately I have not been able to watch Hollywood movies that solely rely on CGI to get past the goal post. I'm tired of action, horror, drama and really all that LA has on offer. There are no inspiring movies to watch these days. Cheers and have an efficient day :)
Very well done satire. Not everyone's cup of tea but a great black comedy treat for people like us who enjoy 'Wednesday Addams' humour - you actually care for every single character (even the bad ones). I could see people I personally know in my life as these caricatures.I might buy this after renting it out for 24 hours as worth a rewatch. This original flick is way better than the mass-produced predictable point A to B trope plot we see these days - manages to makes fun of every political view and good economics lesson on how licensing rules stifle competition and hurt underprivileged folks (although that might be unintentional)!Personally I found this bit better than Zoolander.
Beware low ratings and subjective reviews of movies, including this one. I gave this 9 stars based on how well the movie delivered on what it promised. It did fantastically. It was a little bit wacky, but not even close to being over-the-top. All the jokes were original, imaginative, and genuinely funny. The humour didn't rely on being crude or scraping the bottom of the gutter. No foul language or innuendo, except for 5 minutes from one character who suited that brand of humour - yet even that was very tame. The narrative was consistent and engaging with no plot holes. It didn't test my suspension of disbelief. Except for one fake-out, there were no clichés. Even the fake-out was accompanied by a tasteful and funny joke.Would watch again. Would show to friends.
