Not sure why it didn't do all that well, it was pretty fast paced and covered all basis and answered all the questions throughout the movie. Give it a shot. Don't listen to these low rated reviews.
I decided to watch it without reading its reviews. It is not that bad. It's entertaining the least. The story is not complicated or overly plotted. It has some twists and turns which might not be expected in movies of the same genre. It's nonsense in some degree but intriguing. The ghost part of the story might require to be elaborated into details more in order to make strong impressions. If there would have some footage of 1982 robbery in the beginning of the movie would positively enhance its substance. The idea of the ghost story is unique and original should be played out through the entire film. However, the ending has all the shadows of "Friday the 13th". I was hardly impressed by.Those unfavorable reviews I am not entirely disagree. it's not an impressive work. Yet, I stood by its originality. It has some new ideas about combining thrillers and horrors together. However, it left fair amount of room to be improved.
Acting, was done very well, by all cast, each character really made you think that they were able to tell a story through character, rather than telling it. As far as thrills go, it was sub par, but yet interesting. For a low budget movie, this was done well. This is not a must see, but if you want a movie to think about, specifically the theoretical questions behind each characters past, watch it.
THE VAULT is a B-movie thriller with a decent premise which mixes the thriller and horror genres quite well, in a similar way to FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. It starts out as a regular bank heist/hostage thriller, but soon moves into supernatural territory and becomes a mildly gruesome ghost story. The main problem with the film lies with the direction, which is never as good as it could be. The suspense is limited and the horror scenes anything but horrifying. What this does boast is a nice little cast which keeps you watching. James Franco is the star name but his screen time is quite limited; Taryn Manning and Scott Haze are the ones who stand out here, alongside an unexpectedly good Francesca Eastwood, daughter of Clint and possessing some of his quiet gravitas. And if the bank teller looks familiar, it's because she's the actress who played Pocahontas in THE NEW WORLD!
