I won't spend much time reviewing this film for in all honesty many critics have done that better than i could ever do it. This only a brief take to a unmitigated disaster. This film was one of the the most hyped of its era and it was thought that it could do it. A great director, a cast full of Oscar winner and nominees and extremely well made visuals and make-up, so what when bananas and made this film so bad?For ones it is almost the same with the original, second dialogue that makes me wish to be deaf, third a stiff acting and finally one of the most idiotic ending in film history. I honestly am unable to say anything more .If something is to be said is that this film destroyed the reputation of Tim Burton as a great director and from this point on he is but a shadow of his former glory, many actors reputation was stained by that film and it took them years to come back in to the spotlight. However in all this disaster there is one good thing that came out: A guide of how not to make a remake ,which future directors and studios can uses in order to make good films and I believe that it has help ,if the new trilogy of the Planet of the Apes films is any indication.

Planet of the Apes, 2001.*Spoiler/plot- A modern exploratory black hole USAF station is using chimps to navigate around the through a black hole. One chimp is lost and his concerned trainer human follows the chip's spacecraft to only find a ape planet in civil war.*Special Stars- Mark Wahlber, DIR- Tim BUrton.*Theme- Exploration can involve time, history, and societies.*Trivia/location/goofs- Location: Planetary desert or 'Calima' was Trona Pinnacles, Ridgecrest CA and Lake . The background performers at the Trona Pinnacles area were poisoned when the film production decided to use crushed walnut shells instead of Fuller's Earth for desert dust storms. Several people got sick because of the allergies to walnut products and the production was shut-down for some days for safety of all. Look for Charlton Heston in this film playing General Thade's ancient father. Also the many famous lines and scenes appear in this film with many interesting Tim Burton twists.*Emotion- A lush and different plot from the earlier 20th Century Fox film franchise series. Very enjoyable and has some nice homages to the early film more brighter dialog and memorable scenes.*Based on- French author's Boule famous book.

This movie had high hopes because all the prior movies entertained and gave us something we never seen before. We even got twists and turns and when it was over, we felt we got our moneys worth. In this movie of the same subject, they broke the cardinal rule. They made or make the audience have to work out the movie instead of the movie entertaining them. Now there are some movies that risk this and leave you in an okay state from their efforts. However, if the work to be done is too complex, far out, too detailed and involves much explanation, then it wasn't a movie at all but instead a homework assignment. We become the movie and finish the tale to keep ourselves content and to have a sense of closure. There are some good scenes, acting, and high hopes here and there. But when you expect the paying audience to have to explain a movie so they can understand what they just saw? This is not the best approach and you can forget about a comeback experience. In other words, once is enough. If one likes the Planet of the Apes world, the novel it is based on and the stars like Wahlberg, by all means see the movie. Just don't expect more for less

In this remake by Tim Burton (who had not the desired creative liberty), the focus is not so much on the story but more on the visuals, what makes this, basically, an action movie.Plot: the beginning resembles the 1968 movie with some added prelude scenes. A test-monkey in a shuttle from a space-lab enters a space- time rift and the scientist in charge follows him, crashing on a planet where the dominant species are intelligent apes that enslave humans; the scientist is captured but manages to free himself and from here on out the movie is escape-pursuit action until the climatic final confrontation, with some stops here and there to add short dialogues that add nothing to the story. The final sequence divides opinions, being ambiguous and leaving questions unanswered, promising a sequel that never happened. As incredible as it may seem, the 'apes' act way better then the humans. If you've already seen the 1968 and 70's installments, don't expect to find some social message in this remake. This is a pure entertaining action flick, and a decent one at that.
