Arsenal (2017)

Why? I understand this desire to do low budget independent films with the hope that perhaps, just perhaps, it will be the next pulp fiction - not that this low level script would lead anyone to that conclusion. Yet, there you are, accepting that horrible make-up and rediculous costume. And you didn't walk off the set. You took the inept direction of Steven C. Miller, and just went along with it. Why? Why would a talented actor agree to participate in such nonsense. The other actors all had reasonable characters, with ressonsble accents, and then there was you, Nicolas cage with a rubber nose, waning accent, rediculous wardrobe and hair. I'm sorry, it just begs the question, Why? Did Bernie Madoff take all of your money? Are you now addicted to drugs? Is it just plain greed? I need to understand why. How did they convince you to stay once you witnessed the truth?Please help us all understand.

Movies don't get much worse than this. Between Cage in a ludicrous wig or Grenier as a tough guy I don't know which is worse. Unintentionally funny,embarrassing for all involved. Cage is his scenery chewing self, and Grenier as unconvincing as always. There is , however, some eye candy.

Call it a brother love, blue collar descends to crime collar movie. Cusack and Cage obviously slummed to do this. If blue collar life now equals drugs and one or less parents, lets hear it for Hollywood stereotyping. I can see why Cusack maybe had to do this. He isn't seen much anymore. But Cage still seems to be working. The whole reason for this movie, is a big question mark. Is it to feature this new actor Grenier? Who knows? The script tries for Tarentino and fails. The Grenier character, J.P., somehow has unexplained combat skills, even though he just owns a construction company. His business partner has a neck brace on later into the movie, but that is never explained, just inferred. And the brothers get away with what they get away with at the end without, well, any explanation at all. Is it worth the watch? Only if there isn't anything better to watch. Or if you have anything better to do Cage's and Cusack's presence are what no doubt will lead people to watch this. But you will be disappointed if you want to see something up to the level of these stars.

So. What can i say. If you like shaky camera work ANY time anyone moves. this is the film for you. Atmosphere. Grit. South. these are the three things that move this movie. I love John Cusak, and Nicholas cage. cage gets 10 minutes (maybe less) Cusak gets 5 minutes. "entourage guy" nice acting! all the rest is just, Meh.... Good movie to pass the time (1.5 speed on VLC) Some shots are WAY too long (kid walking in arcade????) but... making movies is hard......
