The movie perfectly showed a very common problem in todays society - peer pressure destroying a life of a girl, who was alright at first, but after meeting ''the popular'' girl Evie her life rapidly went downhill. People with weak characters can easily be influenced like this, completely destroying their relationships with the family and/or close friends, just to look cool in the eyes of the cool kids.It was clearly visible that Tracy is emotionally weak and that she is going to be easily manipulated by her new friend Evie, who was into drugs, alcohol etc., despite her very young age (13). When things got tough Evie was quick to get the blame onto Tracy, despite their strong friendship, well at least Tracey thought it was a great friendship. The movie didn't have that many action as you would expect from a movie of this type, it played more on the relationship between Tracy and her mother, showing that Tracy completely ignored her mother, being blatantly blindfolded and manipulated by her new best friend. Sadly that is a very common problem today, apparently it was more than 12 years ago, when the movie was released."Thirteen" is worth seeing just for the excellent performances of Evan Rachel Wood, Nikki Reed and Holly Hunter, all three of the main characters showed strong acting throughout the movie and that is what was the most impressive about it, the movie didn't have any memorable moments or outstanding scenes, but it had great performance by the actresses throughout, nonetheless.

THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!There is not much else to say, nothing about this movie is even close to OK. The acting is so bad, the script sucks. and i don't now what the director was doing, Maybe having sex with some slut, but he was not directing anything. Please spare your life and do anything to avoid watching this movie, because you are going to wanna kill yourself if you see it. 0/10000000000000000 starsEdit: i have to write f''''' ten lines so hare is some more hate on the movie. She is taking coke as a f''''' 13 year old WTF. I cant say this enough times, i would rather get killed by listen to Justin Bieber strait for ten hour than watching this movie, and i think that is saying enough.

In this teenage movie we see Tracy (Evan Rachel Wood) trying to be popular by becoming friends with Evie (Nikki Reed) who is a bad influence on her life. Many criticize it for being too unrealistic and I absolutely disagree with this. My life was not like that when I was 13, and yet I know many who went that way around that age. What they do is nothing so extreme (besides maybe cutting) that is unthinkable for teenagers to do and we should remember that it took a whole school semester for all this to happen. It is not shocking as in surprising that it happens, it is just could be shocking because even though one knows it happens it is still hard to see someone that young going through it. I didn't really feel like that simply because the girls seem way older than 13.I was not to impressed with young actresses. I liked the story but their performance on the other hand was exaggerated. I also had trouble feeling the exact nature of their friendship. Was there genuine liking or they were just both trying to use each other. On the other hand Holly Hunter was absolutely perfect in her role. I also liked Jeremy Sisto who was performing her boyfriend. Both had great performance and dynamics. It was great to see Hunter's character Mel trying to deal with her daughter. The movie is also very fast paced and energetic. Great camera work. Absolutely loved the ending. very powerful and top notch performances. So all in all a good movie with some weaknesses.

Well as i said in the summary, one of my favourite films! Its absolutely brilliant! Its very hard hitting but at the same time incredibly realistic. It epitomises just the very lengths that young people will go to in order to fit in.Although my teenage years weren't like this I can quite believe that many young people's lives have been (it was based on Nikki Sandersons teenage experiences). Its actually quite frightening just how rapidly a young life can spiral out of control...and how much hard work it is for the family to pick up the bits.It was extremely well written and very cleverly directed and avoided the normal Hollywood schmaltz of what teenage life is like! If you've lived through your teenage years you'll shudder at some of the memories it'll evoke! If you're still in your teenage years, use this film as a guide as to what NOT to do!
