Daybreakers is great vampire a lot of action good acting its is gory not bad ending this is good one
A civilized world in which most of the population is of Vampires is a really cool idea, and when the movie starts, you will be wowed by the world building for about 10 minutes but then you will notice a shift from the awesome world into more stuff which is not related to the awesome civilized world but more on the side of wild things which is something you can also see in other movies. So just because this movie does not focus on that cool world for the most part, this movie is just OK! So just keep your expectations lowered and you might just enjoy this one.
The score on IMDb, 6.5 at the time, fooled me to watch this one and I really wasted almost 2 hours.First the good points in the movie: The acting is overall good, especially Sam Niel in the bad guy role and also Ethan Hawk's brother.But apart from acting everything else is bellow average: the script is schematic and paired with unimaginative direction produce a movie that is uninteresting to watch. You have seen all this before numerous times and you haven't enjoyed it either.It is really a poor movie, do yourself a favor and spend your time watching something else.
but i really didn't like that this movie only has a 6.5 rating... so in order to factor in the 'vote'i've given it, i'll write this, too...it deserves more of a 6.8-7.0, really... it DOES seem to suffer in places for lack of budget...and it might've been a GREAT, underground sort of film with a less physical, more cerebral resolution...but great endings are what good writers get paid for...this was a good one. at least adequate to the task... but it was no follow through for an imaginative story/take. still...i think they did well with what they had. provided an atmosphere that, i think, was hard for some to 'dwell in'. contributing to its low rating. but that's part of the subtlety of the film's artistry. just as a good writer will make you feel uncomfortable, reading about a place with humidity in the 90 percentile, so did these filmmakers help me sense the 'stench'...the decay and desperation of the world they created... i'd like to see what these guys do with more money. it's been a while since this film...gotta look and see if they got another chance...
