Lets make a musical version of a comedy film about musicals. but instead of filling it with legendary songs let's put absolutely no effort into them and make them barely passable. Lets have one actor do a pointless impression of his predecessor and the other barely act act all.I felt sorry for the actors who seemed to be trying hard with an ill conceived turkey.except Matthew broderick of course Why on earth would anyone put Matthew broderick in anything?

Who knew? Time only improves this magnificent tribute to professional quality. In a time where entertainment is all about "Amateur" - eg amateur singers, amateur bakers, amateur shows about amateurs, the joy of The Producers rises and rises. If XFactor off-key warbling and tragic back stories have you throwing your IPad on the floor, this slice of theatre perfection will have you rolling on the floor and rushing back to the black monster TV on the wall. With joy, pleasure and sore face smiling! Nathan Lane and Broderick Crawford bring the triple threat of dance, song and acting with bursting-out of a canon power. The cast all do everything to perfection. Script - it's four yeses from me, set and costume it's a four out of four and high-fives for the camera work! PC is totally incorrect and has increased over the years - rudeness about transgender frocks, 'keep it gay, gay,' and words cannot describe the shocking ageist portrayal with sex and zimmer frames! Then there's Hitler. But most of all there's talent. Everyone's got Talent.

What a weird journey 'The Producers' has had. First a film, then a musical, then this, a film based on the musical. At the centre though is the ultimate bad taste musical, with some very catchy songs and some sharp lines. Are Broderick and Lane a good team on screen? Of course. They more than carry some of the slower points of the film/musical and play their parts with apparent ease.I wasn't as keen on Will Ferrell (at the peak of his powers when this was made) or Uma Thurman, but they are really just two in a long line of oddballs that pop up in this film.I enjoyed it, probably when I shouldn't.

The Producers is a decent movie with an enjoyable storyline with a great cast that mostly play characters that they aren't suited for. Many, many lines are the exact same as the original Producers and I've seen the musical on stage before, which I found a lot more enjoyable than this because the songs are just simply more fun on stage. My favourite in this movie was certainly Will Ferrell,he is without a doubt one of my favourite comedy actors and he could have saved this movie if he was in it longer.I really did not enjoy Matthew Broderick as Leo Bloom,it was hard when you had to compare him to the fantastic performance from Gene Wilder in the original, but he also didn't seem interested in his lines,Nathan Lane and Uma Thurman did however deliver great performances as Max Bialystock and Ulla. The Producers is nothing close to outstanding, but you still may enjoy it if you're looking for a good musical, the songs are very catchy and memorable. A crooked Broadway producer co-opts a timid accountant to help him stage a play that is certain to flop.Best Performance: Will Ferrell Worst Performance: Matthew Broderick
