Actually a very fun adventure film, i didn't expect to enjoy this as much as i did but it was a cool little urban adventure that yes was moulded by the classic films THE WARRIORS (1979) & ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (1981) but that's fine it's not a problem at all as it's just fun & fits in nicely to their universe really. The fact that they actually filmed mostly in the actual bronx itself at that almost apocalyptic time of early 80s is Fantastic & gives it the REAL bronx look with all it's gritty burned out buildings & rubble & wastelands & gives it the authentic feel that is something even Escape from New York COULDN'T do!!! So yes Escape from the Bronx has alot of good stuff in it & visually is very cool & the 80s music is silly at times but fun it's what you expect i mean this is an Italian production. The main character called Trash is actually ok not great like Snake Plisskin at all but ok & at least watchable & we have the always cool Fred Williamson as the king of the Bronx ogre. So yeah the story is fine about a girl who chose to hide out in the bronx & became involved with Trash & the government that want her back & send in an assassin to kill everyone & get her back, the Hammer played really well & intense by Vic Marrow & alot of colourful gangs & fights, so yeah a good fun ride that i could watch again. The sequel ESCAPE FROM THE BRONX is even better. Good late night trashy entertainment & lots of crazy action packed fun

This one is a rip-off of The Warriors and Escape to New York. Occasionally, it's rather inventively directed, and it's always very interestingly photographed by Sergio Salvati – particularly the exteriors on real locations. The action material is great, but the dialogue is absolutely ridiculous. Not a single cliché is missed! Young Mark Gregory as the gang leader may look the part, but he is way outclassed by many of the other players, particularly Fred Williamson, Christopher Connelly, and Joshua Sinclair (masquerading here as John Loffredo) as Ice. Vic Morrow plays a crazy cop with his usual edge and Stephania Girolami Goodwin is attractive enough as the heroine. The pace is sufficiently fast to overcome both the dull moments and the hokey dialogue. And of course there is sufficient action for the fans.

"1990: The Bronx Warriors" may get no points for originality, but it still has a certain cheesy charm going for it. It's nothing if not fun. Basically, it's an amalgam of ideas taken from earlier movies such as "Mad Max", "The Warriors", and "Escape from New York". It takes place in a post apocalyptic future where the neighbourhood of the Bronx has become a "no man's land" which the police don't bother with any more, and it's every piece of scum for themselves. Into this area comes Ann (Stefania Girolami Goodwin), daughter of the head of a massive arms manufacturing corporation. She wants no more to do with that life, and has run away before she can rightly inherit the corporation. Trash (Mark Gregory), the leader of a gang dubbed The Riders, falls in love with her and does all he can to protect her, even as the corporation sends its top thug, Hammer (Vic Morrow) into the Bronx to retrieve her. If one is familiar with the films of Italian director Enzo G. Castellari (who also has a supporting role here), they know to expect an entertaining diversion. This is colourful stuff, in more ways than one. The production and costume design, by Massimo Lentini, is particularly impressive, and the widescreen photography captures it all in high style. This vision of the future does have a certain decrepit look going for it. The music by Walter Rizzati is another very enjoyable asset, and helps to drive the movie forward. The action in this thing usually isn't very slick, but this aspect merely adds to the amusement factor. The characters are given great names - in addition to Trash, there's also Golan (George Eastman), Ice (Joshua Sinclair), Hot Dog (Christopher Connelly), Witch (Betty Dessy), Blade (Massimo Vanni), and The Ogre. The Ogre is a gang leader played by the almighty Fred "The Hammer" Williamson, who's at his charismatic best. Morrow, in what was sadly one of his final few roles, is a hoot as the crazed antagonist. Gregory has the right look for this sort of thing, but his hopelessly stiff "acting" will either elicit chuckles or groans from the viewer. The gangs, as in "The Warriors", each have their own gimmicks, including one highly unlikely bunch that can boast choreography. The story hits the ground running and builds up to a priceless resolution. The film may obviously be padded at times, but even the padding is pretty cool, such as the endless drumming on the beach. Fans of the post nuke genre should give this one a look, as it does have its moments throughout. Followed by the sequel "Escape from the Bronx". Eight out of 10.

How have I not seen this film. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a fan of bad cinema especially exploitative action pics Savage, Streets, Chained Heat, Barbarian Queen, enough said. But this one...this one takes the cake. It centers on a young woman who escapes from Manhattan in the future "1990" it was made in 1981 which has becomes the arms capital of the world to the Bronx which has been declared a war zone full of degenerates. She immediately falls in with Trash and his gang. But when Her rich Dad sends a ridiculous assassin to get her back who in turns plans on turning all the Bronx gangs against one another or something well chaos ensues. Now let's talk Trash. Wow he is one of the most stupefying, badly dressed, hunky conic characters I've ever come across. He has long curly hair, a muscular broad chest and sports a very open leather vest that exposes his nipples from time to time and very tight Mom jeans that well just lets you see everything. oh and let me not forget about his knee high leather boots. Oh he is amazing. even more amazing is how committed he is too the role. And his acting is just so bad he even has an intensely dramatic crying homoertic moment when his best friend gets killed. And the film is filled with gorgeous moments like that. The bad ass assassin is about 60 and jumps down from first floor windows in slow motion, Fred Williamson shows up as a sort of disco pimp character and his sidekick is a feisty blond with silver claws, a whip and a shiny silver and black cape. And let me not forget about the gang on roller skates with rainbow elbow and knee pads and their samurai haired leader. Oh I could just talk about this movie all day. But here it is if your a fan of Trash cinema you will be a fan of Trash and his gang and this movie seek it out as soon as possible it's worth it
