Three best friends and dedicated roleplayers take to the woods to reenact a dungeons and dragons-like scenario as a live action role-playing game. Trouble arises when a prop spellbook purchased from the internet ends up being a genuine grimoire and they unwittingly conjure up a blood-lusting succubus from hell.

This movie is simultaneously extremely stupid and awesome. Although "Kick-Ass" is much better, this movie is for epic fantasy what "Kick-Ass" is for the superhero genre. If you like FRP, LARP, epic fantasy, B horrors and heavy metal, or if you were the fan of "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil" series, this is something you simply must not miss.In the middle of some forest nowhere a big live-action fantasy role play tournament is held, but one of the "wizards" accidentally uses the real spell and the innocent game turns into real bloodshed. Story and characters are not particularly well-developed and everything is two-dimensional, so in combination with a small budget we get a production fiasco. On the other hand, the idea is great, the gore scenes are fun and the cast is fantastic. In the leading roles there are legendary Tyrion Lannister, nerdy Steve Zahn, then Ryan Kwanten and cutest sexy ballerina Summer Glau, whom I am in love with since the "Firefly" series.I rate it seven, which is the average grade between its objective (un)quality and my enthusiasm.7/10

This is definitely a B- movie. But it has an A list cast and a genuinely funny, bad it is so good, script. Just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. A list actors hamming it up in a B- movie. The rest of my review is to meet IMDb's 5 line minimum review. They obviously did not get the less is more snapchat (I would have said memo, but I don't think people do those now. I think it is all snapchat, whatsapp or periscope now. Those have probably gone the way of friends reunited and MySpace in the time it has taken you to read this.)Fun movie, watch it. Fills in some time between birth and death when you are not too busy being awesome.

A-Z Horror Movie of the Day..."Knights of Badassdom" (R - 2013 - US)Sub-Genre: Paranormal/ComedyMy Score: 6.5Cast=8 Acting=6 Plot=7 Ending=7 Story=5 Scare=4 Jump=6 F/X=7 Creep=6 Funny=9Live-action role players conjure up a demon from Hell by mistake and they must deal with the consequences. "'Tis not the size of the young knave's blade, but the lust in his thrust by which legends are made!"  I have only LARP'ed a couple times, but I really enjoyed this. You really don't need to know much about it to get the movie...and with a great cast like this it was very fun to watch. This kind of had an "Army of Darkness" feel to it, but that does not mean it's THAT great. If thou wishes to join a fine quest full of adventure, mirth, and peril...don your +3 ass of perfection and put this in thy player.

First of all, don't expect some kind of enlightenment out from a movie about LARP and demons. It's pretty close to what Evil Dead II had to say about horrors (similar humor + horror brethren). Only in rather less skillful manner. We've got a great, and well matched cast here with Dinkleage, Zahn and Kwanten (in that order). Enough of a basic story to work on and a theme that lets the viewers put a blind eye on the scarce budget of the movie (mature people playing with foam swords and pretending to live in fantasy world). And indeed, the script sends us lots of winks throughout the watch, which should be quite understandable even by people without much roleplaying knowledge. So we've got a story, set of companions and evil to fight with. Everything looks good, even the obvious, or more subtle jokes. But it kinda fails in details (apart from cast).*SPOILER* Honestly, this movie missed the perfection by just a few notches. Script wasn't polished enough and some parts of it should be better thought out. For example, killing off Hung mid movie was a major mistake to be done. Dinklage is a lovable character and his abrupt demise was unnecessary for the plot. Same with the pointless abundant gore, given left and right, while it could be less, but better planted. In the end, the worse tragedy is the somewhat poor dialogue in comparison to how rich it could of be with jokes and puns having such material and actors to work with. Still, it's worth watching. Especially if you're just a little bit nerdy... or watch the movie with friends that can feel the flow, like, I dunno, you all having a few beers or smoking pot. It will be fun.
