Stone has never been big on subtlety, & Born on the 4th has its moments of projection & overtness. Mostly though, it's a powerful, epic & overwhelmingly emotional journey into a soldier's psyche. The breakdown scene in the family's house is one of the all-time greats in cinema: heartbreaking, frustrating, enraging, & even uncomfortably funny. Cruise has never been better, covering as many emotions & head spaces as the film does, all while staying fully within the singular character

Tom Cruise gives a great performance as Ron Kovic, a veteran who virtually lost everything, including his legs, fighting in Vietnam. After his return, he becomes an advocate against the war. Both Oliver Stone, the director, and Ron Kovic, the writer both served in the war.Stone gives us a gruesome inside look into the horrors of war, including the return to civilian life after. The return for many was difficult, leading many to commit or attempt suicide. The country they came back to was changed was ungrateful (at the time) of their service, slamming them as "baby killers" and such. They came back to their fellow citizens who were against the war. Some veterans were, as well. Kovic was one. After his return, Kovic championed for human rights and fought against the Vietnam war. Eventually, he wrote the book in which this film was based. Every day, especially July 4th, thank a veteran for their service, it wasn't always their choice to go fight. Nor, were all conscientious objectors who got out of going.Thank you to all veterans!!

Whant me to tell you the truth about what i think. This movie is so f&*@ing great that it's just making me sick. Tom cruise is great, the scenes are great, every thing is great. Now the really bad part. Have you watch Zeitgeist the movie? I you have you will know what i mean. This movie is full of, with one of the greatest perversions over the humanity, shown from the "patriotic side". Never the less they making it look like you done something unbelievable. The main point of the war is that the war never changes. So the only victory is to prevent the war of happening. That is all i have to say

The biography of Ron Kovic. Paralyzed in the Vietnam war, he becomes an anti-war and pro-human rights political activist after feeling betrayed by the country he fought for. Born on the 4th of July is kinda a very hard movie to sit threw not because it's bad or anything it's a great film it's just hard to sit threw the whole damn thing watching Ron Kovic (Cruise) paralyzed in a wheel chair with some people making fun of him without respecting him and what he sacrificed for his country and Tom Cruise gives an amazing performance and as the years go by you feel more for this guy and watching him like this is very sad and although the whole cast is good i think Oliver Stone did the best job with Tom Cruise mostly and if you like him as an actor and like this kind of movies you will not be disappointed.
