This movie is one of Disney's more overlooked films. In context, i have seen this movie like 12 times and it's still magical in it's own element! This movies CGI animation was bright and crisp. This movie was stunning by the amazing visual effects and storyline make this movie a way to enjoy family night without going to buy a movie off Pay per view!It can actually be found pretty much anywhere! If you know anything about this movie. It can to be in FOUR words...FANTASTIC, HEARTFELT, SENSORY AND STUNNING!

Mars needs Mums is a big disappointment of a movie. The main virtue of the film is the excellent visuals and animation. It looks like uber-wow next-generation rotoscopy, because some of the characters look like non-animated, especially Gribble. The film is full-on adventure and has an original story a priori.Unfortunately, the movie is mostly fluff. The animation is fantastic for sure, but also overly-realistic; I thought they could have used real actors and wouldn't need to animate anything. The characters are simplistic, hollow, and some of them totally annoying. The movie has no tempo, is full-on action from minute five, so the characters aren't given the time to feel anything, to express anything, they are too busy running; viewers feel breathless as well. The Martian society created is all feminine, but depicts women as careless heartless btxes. All of this would have not mattered if the movie had had what I missed the most -- heart, a magic touch. If your mum is kidnapped and you want to rescue her, I want to see you expressing a full range of emotions and feeling something, not just becoming a mechanical super-hero that runs nonstop. The lack of heart could have been mitigated with more humour, with more lightness, but it wasn't funny enough either. I felt bored and annoyed watching this film, got distracted every five minutes, and disliked most characters. I didn't hate the film. I thought that it was average or somewhat below. The direction and the script were too weak to make a feature film. A short might have sufficed.

I'm shocked to see how poorly this is rated on IMDb. In fact, if I'd known it only had a 5.4 here I probably never would have given it a chance. But since I didn't, I gave it a chance. To my surprise I loved it. And that's an odd thing for a mid-thirties guy to say. I found it good-hearted, exceptionally well written, and a thrilling vicarious cinematic ride. For me, at least, this is everything I look for in a "kid's" movie. It was a ton of fun with a hero who I really rooted for and an entertaining supporting cast. All I can say is that I can't wait to watch it again, and I almost never feel that way about any movie. Go ahead and give it a try yourself and see if you don't agree. I highly recommend this film.

My plan was to set the film going then leave the kids to it. In actual fact, to my total surprise I really liked this and on occasions I was shushing the kids so I could hear it! My family (kids AND adults) all love the Toy Story series but aren't such fans of Happy Feet and Up... in other words, we like some animated movies but by no means all.The animation in this film is so good that in a number of scenes I found myself asking if it was animated or real. The true test (to me) is that you get carried away into the film forgetting about animation because it is so slick. Toy Story 1/2/3 did it, this did it.The story is somewhat predictable and shallow, but hey, it's a kids movie, that is exactly what it SHOULD be! My 4 year old and 9 year old could equally enjoy the movie, following the story line and knowing what outcome they wanted. There are plenty of laughs too. I found myself chuckling on multiple occasions... usually where the kids didn't :) It's typical Disney ...Fun, laughter, tears and great animation. It's a pleasing film to watch and the behind the scenes segments were a real insight and quite fun.I would certainly recommend this film for a good Sunday afternoon session on a rainy day!
