The simple story has the pair coming to the rescue of peace-loving Mormons when land-hungry Major Harriman sends his bullies to harass them into giving up their fertile valley. Trinity and Bambino manage to save the Mormons and send the bad guys packing with slapstick humor instead of excessive violence, saving the day.

Trinità aka Trinity is the fastest gun in the west and the most comical cowboy I have ever seen. His 'brother' Bambino is rough and tough. Together they are the funniest duo in western film history. You will never know what these two will come up with next.I do not like most spaghetti westerns (I find the bulk of them boring) but my exceptions are Clint Eastwood's older westerns like 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' and the comedy duo Bud Spencer & Terence Hill in the Trinity film series. If you like They Call Me Trinity then you should like the other two Trinity films: 'Trinity is Still My Name' and 'My Name is Nobody'.9.5/10

Terrence Hill (actually, his real name is Mario Girotti) plays Trinity--the world's laziest cowboy hero. He used the least amount of energy possible when he fights--yet like any Italian western hero, he's practically unstoppable. One day Trinity wanders into a town and finds that his brother, Bambino (Bud Spencer--whose real name is Carlo Pedersoli) is the sheriff. This is odd, since his brother is a crook. Well, it turns out that is shot the guy coming to town to become sheriff and decided to pose as the sheriff. However, he's actually now doing a pretty good job as sheriff--mostly because he hates the big boss-man, the Major (Farley Granger). In fact, both he and Trinity gang up on the Major because the Major is trying to force the Mormons off their own land--and that just isn't nice. Now this brings us to a bit of a problem with the script. The Mormons are portrayed almost exactly like Quakers and they talk about how their beliefs preclude them from violence. However, that is NOT a Mormon belief and there were lots of times the sect resorted to violence--often to protect themselves but occasionally to commit a massacre. So, if you understand about the history of the religion, the major underpinning of this plot really doesn't make any sense. Regardless, the film is reasonably enjoyable and harmless fun--though the big fight sequence near the end was overlong. Not great by any stretch but enjoyable.

This lesser known spaghetti western is slow at times, but there are plenty of scenes that make the movie worth watching. Terence Hill plays a drifter who decides to help a group of settlers defend themselves from a man trying to take their land. Trinity is an unkempt guy, but he's a cool dude when called upon to defend people's rights."Lo chiamavano Trinità" (alternately called "They Call Me Trinity" and "My Name is Trinity" in English) isn't any kind of great movie. More than anything, it's fun. What was especially interesting was to see Farley Granger - best known for his leading roles in Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope" and "Strangers on a Train" - playing a heavy. In the end, I do recommend this movie, just as I would "A Fistful of Dollars", "Django"* and "The Five-Man Army". It's always been a neat genre.*I'm eager to see what Quentin Tarantino does with his upcoming Django movie.

I say this because ... I was stationed in Germany 72-74 , outside of Gelhausen . Some friends and I decided to go see an X-rated Comedy Western that was playing at the local theater . I could not speak but two words of German (tho I believe it was actually in Italian) but this movie didn't need words . When I say it was X-rated , which it was , not like any other ! It had a great storyline and we actually went back 2 more times to see it , not because of it's rating , we just missed many parts due to our tears of laughter making us miss parts here and there !The whole story was about a gold mining crew on top of a mountain far away from the nearest town . There were no women and the miners decided to pool their gold and send 2 men (Bud and Terrence) to go and bring prostitutes from the nearest towns back to the mountain . Their journey took them to more than one town because they needed to bring back many and this turned into a wagon train load of women . I didn't know who B&T were until I got back stateside and saw Trinity , whereas I instantly recognized both men as those in this movie .I was only 17 and it was the 1st movie of it's kind that I had ever seen and have yet to see a movie anywhere near as good as this one . We laughed just as hard the 2nd and 3rd time as the first , in fact , we laughed about it the rest of the year . It was so well made it didn't need words and it was downright hilarious !!!! I believe it was 1973 when we saw it . Anybody here in Germany about that time ??? I would love to find it again and need the title to know where to begin looking . When I watched Trinity , it brought back all those great memories and I have to say as great as Trinity was , this movie was all that and more and that's putting it mildly !!!!!
