Remember those dreadful school plays you were forced to partake in or watch?Well this movie is on a par with that. 1. Appallingly hammy acting that might work in Rent-a-Ghost but not in a feature film aimed at anyone over the age of 102. Absolutely no sense of comic timing. 'Jokes' are telegraphed from miles away and/or flogged beyond the limits of human endurance3. 'Humour' that is at least 20 years past it's sell-by date even in the early '90sConsider this;In 1973 Monty Python made The Holy Grail on a budget of $500,000 (factoring in inflation this equates to about $830,000 by 1993). This movie had a budget of $20,000,000. For the cost of twenty-four (24!!) Monty Python films Mel Brooks managed to squeeze out this steaming turd.Avoid like the pox

Robin of Loxley returns to England from Africa only to find that king Richard has been replaced by his unworthy brother, prince John, who taxes his people to starvation. Together with his new friends, he must put an end to this tyranny, regain his family properties and win the heart of the beautiful maid Marian. This movie is a parody to Robin Hood and his adventures. It laughs from one end to another of anything related to the prince of thieves. It follows the original story (sort of) doing nothing more than mocking everything from the characters to the decor or even the plot itself. It's the sort of movie which rarely manages to be funny and entertaining without making a fool of itself. I'm glad to say that it's one of the best in what it tries to do. A true comedy which I watched several times and without any doubt I will see it many times from now on. It puts a smile on your face no matter what mood you're in. Simply wonderful!

Turn back time 10 years or so and ask me, a kid in his early teens, what his favorite movie would be. Surely Robin Hood: Men in Tights would be his answer. A huge Mel Brooks fan growing up (and still am), this very movie was my favorite Brooks flick. I just loved all the silliness and weirdness, especially when the characters broke the fourth wall. Still really funny, I've certainly grown tired of some jokes. This mostly because I've seen it waaay ton many times by now. Also my "thing" with the fourth wall has sort of died out. Still, this certainly is an enjoyable picture with lots of memorable performances and jokes. Cary Elwes certainly stands out - he surely is the perfect Robin Hood, but nonetheless: the main fast overall is really fun to match and makes for a really fun film.Favourite performance: Cary Elwes as Robin Hood Favourite quote: "Because, unlike some other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent."

'Robin Hood: Men in Tights' epitomizes the second half of Mel Brooks' legendary career. It's an amusing and energetically acted comedy, told in classic Mel Brooks fashion, but it's not nearly as sharp or inspired as his best work. To that end, I'm not sure if the Robin Hood legend was the ripest target Brooks could've picked here, but just as he did with his four years too late satire of 'Star Wars', he milks a rather dry teat for just enough laughs to make it worthwhile.Though none of the cast are in the same league as Gene Wilder, Harvey Korman or Madeline Kahn, they clearly did their homework and do their best to fill the shoes of former Mel Brooks Players. It's a very specific type of comedy that requires just the right actor to pull it off. Thankfully, Brooks' eye for talent had remained very keen, and this cast help to make the too often stale material seem fresher than it is.'Robin Hood: Men in Tights' may not be on par with Brooks' best work, but it's a bit of good natured amusement for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
