Few horror movies scare me-so this may be the scariest movie I have ever seen. I can say that while only 44 minutes into it. I have seen the original twice and prefer that, however. Roger Ebert called this the worst movie he had ever seen and I can see why-but I think this is better at scaring you than any other horror film ever produced. So, in short, story wise, the original is better, horror wise, this is better. Check it out if you can take it. Fun Fact: In the beginning, Jennifer goes to a gas station, and has to pay $19.78. This is a reference to the year the original version came out-1978.

I don't understand why this remake was so controversial. However, it's worth the watch to see what all the hype was about. The acting was good and the setting was perfect; but there was something lacking between the switch from the first to the second part of the movie. The second movie in the series is awesome. It's worth watching the first one so you can ease into the second one. Everything that was lacking in the first one is more than made up for in the second one.

Originally made in 1978 and directed by Meir Zarchi the remake takes the original to task. Much of the plot and story stay right on cue with characters relatively the same. A young, albeit plain looking woman retreats to the woods and isolates herself in a cabin to write a novel. She revels in the silence of being alone and one with the woods. She soon realizes she is anything but alone. Enter some town folk who are hellbent on having a good time and savagely rape her repeatedly. The act is quite graphic and definitely not for young viewers or those that are squeamish. The film pushes the boundaries of the torture and rape scenes, this is meant to do that and stun the audience. The woman does not go quietly, she comes back and with revenge and vengeance fueling her. I liked the cinematography, the story and Jennifer (Sarah Burton), the other characters did have their flaws but overall the fil keeps you interested. I did give it a 7 for it's screenplay, being a remake and good plotlines.

I know many reviews are complaining about the torture part, but to heck with it, they tortured her as well and damn her vengeance was so satisfying. When she caught Johnny I was thinking "She should have cut his wiener off" and when I saw him naked, I thought "Holy fvck..." paused for a moment then she grabbed that big scissors and I completely lost it, she was so freaking awesome... Till she put it in his mouth... literally almost threw up, dammit girl that was some badass sh*t. Again, best vengeance movie ever, they deserved all the punishment, even Matthew, disabled or not, he knew what he was doing when he chocked her. 10/10
