A good psychological thriller for an overused story-line. the "abducted" plot has been around for decades, and will continue to do so. however the 'Stockholm syndrome' aspect of this film provides a breath of fresh air and ensures it stands out from the crowd. 6 stars

Very contemporary, brilliantly videoed, artistically scored and intelligently acted. Teresa Palmer has to me always been just eye candy. But she shows her ability in this movie to range from happy to sad, to aroused to angry, from hysterical to resigned...her range seems infinitesimal and she totally made me believe that she was in the situation she portrayed. There were a couple of plot points that let her down, but this is a film not a factual record of what really happened. so there has to be some artistic licence. One thing I did enjoy was the lack of violent sex. I expected it given the circumstances, but there was no rape, no violent sexual treatment, he almost revered her in some ways. You could tell the conflict in him. It had me gripped from the moment she found herself locked in the first day and I'd definitely recommend it if you like thrillers.

'Berlin Syndrome' was setting itself up to be something great, but it just couldn't quite deliver the knock-out punch. I love the idea for the story. It's creepy and a little too real (this kind of thing happens more than people realise). The characters were also well created. They were believable and charming in their own dark ways. Then there were two very fine acting performances by Teresa Palmer and Max Riemelt. So why didn't I enjoy this film as much as I should have? The problem lies in the story development. There really isn't any. The film sets itself up and then just drifts along for the next two hours. Some films can get away with that but not when they run 20-30 minutes longer than they needed to. There was a lot that could have been left on the cutting room floor in this one. Then the ending came around and it was about as "meh" as you could possibly get. Very disappointing. Not a bad film, but if you're looking for something great, look elsewhere.

Where do I begin, a bland story with no character development and a really really slow incredibly slow movie. How do people even get a budget for this. o realism whatsoever, stupid protagonist and an overall disaster of a movie. Cinematography was OK, but too pretentious for this kind of movie. A one star just because I couldn't leave a zero start rating. One of the worse movies I have ever wasted my time on. almost 2 hours and the best parts are in the beginning and 10 minutes before it all ends. Not recommended. what an utter shitfest of a movie
