I really like Sarah Michelle Gellar, but this movie was just plain terrible. I mean that's all there is to it, it's a very dull and effortless movie. The acting is pretty so-so to be honest. Gellar isn't bad per say but it's certainly not her best performance and I think she could've done better. The other actors are just so-so, like the rest of the movie. The script is very lackluster, it doesn't really give a lot of depth to the characters or the storyline. I was originally intrigued by the plot and the trailer, that's why I decided to watch it, but I unfortunately let down. The plot looks like it could be interesting and be a good set up for a well made film, but it just never turns out. It all begins with Sarah Michelle Gellar's character as a child, it shows what happens to her while at a fair with her father. Then it goes to her current day and she is heading back home for some business, when she returns home she starts to experience things that remind her of what happened all those years ago. The suspense really doesn't work and the movie is also void of any creepy feeling or scariness. It just kind of jumps from scene to scene showing what Sarah Michelle Gellar is doing and discovering. But the issue is that nothing she's doing is in the least bit interesting, nothing keeps the audience invested or wanting to keep watching. I contemplated turning it off but I decided to finish it. 1/10 for the return. REALLY not worth anyone's time.

Unfairly maligned this Mysterious Supernatural Thriller is probably much too cerebral, subtle and low-key for Horror Movie Fans and not sophisticated enough for the, well, Sophisticates. Slowly becoming typecast Gellar mumbles more than usual but is adequate as a very confused and haunted Girl who has been that way since her car accident when she was a child. It is a confusing trip that She and the Audience are put through and it works somewhat in a disorienting and disconnecting kind of way. The Movie displays an abundance of Atmospheric and Creepy landscapes and sets but there are unnecessary side Characters who are there for, who knows? The ending has been criticized for being ambiguous but it is really a simple Denouement with just a bit of thought and while thinking about it, satisfies enough to say, that was strange and a bit scary and reinforces, in a Spiritual sense, the Butterfly Effect.

This film starts off promisingly atmospherically, and then continues with an awful lot of something happening but not quite. There are hints and flashbacks and memories and blokes who look creepily suspicious and something almost happened just then but not quite and is it supernatural or psychological, well you'll just have to wait and see, won't you? Yes, but I fear I'm going to drop off.Thank heavens, the adverts have woken me up.Part two arrives, and she's dropping in to see Dad, and things are almost touched on but not quite. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is playing the girl who is going through this odd almost non-experience has a constant expression as if someone has just farted under her nose. I quite like Miss Gellar under normal circumstances - her character here is unattractive and irritating.OK, it's "The Return", I get it, she's returning to her past to find out what has happened to her in the past so that she....That's the problem here. You know such a small amount that you don't really understand why anything is happening. The drip feeding of information is so slow that it is difficult to maintain interest. Perhaps the payoff will be worth it, but am I really that invested that I am prepared to experience the second half of this film? I'm not going to tell you. Now there's some suspense for you - more than there is in this movie, at any rate!

The Return: Sarah Michelle Gellar's performance is fantastic. Has to be one of the best supernatural thrillers i have seen in a long long time. This one honestly had me on the edge of my seat, with its scares and very well thought out storyline and or though it is similar to a few others out there its just so well done i thoroughly enjoyed this one more then any other.Sarah Michelle Gellar plays Joanna Mills a young business woman who does a lot of travel. Joanna drives to Texas where she becomes haunted by daydreams and night terrors of a gruesome and brutal murder that occurred 15 years earlier.Plagued by the violent memories and visions Joanna decides she must get to the truth of all this. She befriended Terry Stahl played by Peter O'Brien who stopped an attack on Joanna and it becomes clear no one seems to like him very much.Joanna Become aware that Terry Stahl is involved somehow and tries to talk with him this doesn't work out and Joanna must now work out her violent visions on her own. By chance she works out what has happened and now her life is in danger......I highly recommend this film as i mentioned before this is one of the best supernatural thrillers i have seen.
