After a neighbor's death in his apartment complex, a teen finds that the strange occurrences and powers surrounding him and his friends are the cause of a demonic prophecy coming true and force their friends into a deadly race to save him and free themselves. This turned out to be quite an enjoyable if still flawed effort in the series. What this one does rather well is the fact that it's first half does come off rather well being a pretty creepy and chilling build- up of their everyday lives actually being quite fun. The lead-in from the graduation celebration and into the first investigations into their neighbor comes off rather nicely, and once they learn of her death it becomes quite chilling here with the realization of her interest in the occult this makes for a much greater sense of suspense here with the sudden onslaught of new abilities that get documented by the two.that leads them into their rather fun adventures showing off his new abilities. This is a nice balance between fun and creepy, and once it moves past that into the creepy angle again there's a lot of great work to be had here from the friend invading their rendezvous with the girls that starts up the investigation into his backstory that falls in- line with the other kids which is all rather nicely done. The action scenes here are all rather nicely done here as well, managing to take the rather intriguing premises here from their encounter with the friend escaping from the murder scene, his later reappearance when they come home with the girls having to chase him out into the street and the rather freaky occurrence in the basement to rather chilling extremes as they all make this one quite an enjoyable effort. With the final half also managing to generate quite some interesting and chilling action scenes as well in the failed exorcism attempt that quickly becomes a quite chilling sequence, the escape attempt and then eventual abduction by the coven from the accident site which leads so well into the truly chilling encounters at their ranch- house hideout that generates so many fun and enjoyable moments here, there's so much here that's quite fun and full of blazing action that it ends on a high note and becomes quite fun. There's a few flaws to be had here, which all basically starts with the usual issue to be found here in this series with the absolutely utter insanity to need to be recording during many of these encounters. Though it works quite nicely at the first half when it's just simply them hanging around their neighborhood not really doing much of anything, the later scenes here are just so pointless as to need to be recording during them that it really manages to showcase not a series of freaky encounters that just so happened to be captured on camera but also just plain stupidity that forces their need to keep a camera going during these intense moments when trying to save themselves would be a better use of their resources. As well, there's also the rather annoying and plain irritating tactic of going really quiet only to suddenly feature something really loud bursting into the soundtrack to generate scares which is a frequent occurrence here that it becomes so predictable about what's happening here which does become quite problematic. Otherwise it's quite a fun time.Rated R: Extreme Graphic Language, Graphic Violence, Full Nudity, a sex scene and drug use.

You ever have that feeling before you watch something that it's just going to be bad? I mean, sometimes you're pleasantly surprised, but more times than not you called it right. This was how I felt before watching 'The Marked Ones'. I just had this feeling of dread before renting this one, but I also felt obligated because I've seen the entire PA franchise. You know what I mean. And unfortunately, I was right. This one stunk. And while leaving on a bad note may leave one unsatisfied, I think it's time to just walk away from this franchise. I mean, once you jump the shark, there's no going back. Unfortunately, they didn't get that memo, as I hear there's a sixth installment coming out soon. Ugh.I'll start with a little bit of praise. At least the PA team tried to do something different. The first 4 were basically cookie cutters, and while 4 wasn't awful, you got the feeling that they kind of exhausted their formula of cameras positioned around a house while filming paranormal activity (usually at night), yet somehow the protagonists stick around much longer than any sane person would. And different is usually a good thing, right? Except when it isn't. And this different sucked.I actually bought into the characters at the beginning, as the PA franchise does a pretty job of character development. That made it all the more frustrating as the movie went south, which made me care less what happened to them and I found myself actually looking forward for the movie to end.Basically, we find out that certain newborn males are 'marked' to become possessed. Jesse is one of those, and at 18 years old the witches are coming for him. Without giving up to much info, this all ties back to Katie in the original PA, as we find her screaming Micah's name, just as she did at the end of PA1. Don't ask me how we ended up back to that point, but we did. At least we get to see how she killed him, I guess. The story basically makes no sense, and it just seems like the writers either made things up as they went, or they got completely hammered one night and wrote this atrocious script. Oh, and did I tell you that there isn't one scary moment in the whole movie? Yeah, that makes this even worse. It's hardly suspenseful, let alone the least bit scary. The more I think about this movie, the more it pisses me off. It was just that stupid. And I only have myself to blame, since I knew this was going to be bad before I watched it. I should learn to just trust my instincts. Though, I guess Im a glutton for punishment.

I was really expecting something good because I have been looking forward t watching this series of movies, to bad I didn't look at the reviews before hand. The movie is about a kid named Jess who gets possessed by a demon and eventually tries to get it out. The movie didn't even try to be creative. Oh hector is going for a close up with the camera toward a window of course a person is going to slam their face against it. Oh hector and Jesse are looking for Oscar, then Oscar falls onto a car next to them. And of course when you look in a scary basement you have to have the 2 scary blacked eyed girls behind a curtain when looking. Also the ending didn't make any sense, hector encountered a woman who started yelling matic, then she rushed him With a knife, a man runs down the stairs and try's to help her but he gets in a fight with her. Then to top it all of hector runs away opens a door, some type of monster humans jumps him, his camera falls to the ground then a couple seconds later a strange woman turns of the camera. What I am saying is that there are many more examples of the movie being predictable, if you would watch it you would know. The only reason is that I didn't rate this movie lower is because their where some funny parts that were meant to be funny then parts that where funny, but not meant to be funny. Like a funny part that was not meant to be funny was when Jesse was possessed by a demon and had the little dog shoved on the feeling running on its side. Anyway I knew that they could have done a much better job because oculus had the same budget and they made a master piece. Only watch this movie for comedic value or something to laugh at.

paranormal activity:the marked ones is another paranormal activity film. this film doesn't try to be scary it tries to be fun and creepy. in some areas it does great. but it fails as a horror filmthe plot Jesse investigates the death of his next door neighbor and he soon realizes that something has been following him. He starts of thinking that its a good spirit but he finds out he is wrongTHE FILM IS ENJOYABLE. Just give it a try and you most likely will have funit contains a lot of jump scares and that might get a little bit annoying
