Baffling. Extraordinary. Pigs. Barely any dialogue. Beautiful looking. Directed by Shane Carruth (Primer), It's very challenging - so much so that I'm not even sure repeat viewings will shed any more light on it. It's definitely one for cinema purists who like to watch cerebral movies. In that respect it's more of an experience than a movie aligned with Terence Malick and Darren Aronofsky material. What's it about? The cycle of life? genetics? religion? morality? ethics? Probably all these things. What's clear is that Shane Carruth operates on a level that is different to most of us!

Although I felt the acting, cinematography and score are good, the lack of plot continuity makes it very difficult to access emotionally. I suppose this would be seen as very artistic for the film professional or those who are tired for the sheeple food that Hollywood tends to produce, but in my mind this just goes too far.

I seem to be in the distinct minority who feel that the first third of the movie is weakest. What follows would not be much less abstruse if the whole criminal body-snatcher caper element weren't there. If you're gonna make an existential film, just go for it. After all, Upstream Color doesn't tread any ground that Godard and Fellini didn't shatter a half-century ago.By the time Amy Seimetz has short hair, the film is captivating with its imagery and soundscape. Really, I could rewind to any random point and be thoroughly entertained. Coherent narratives are for sissies.I wish I could've seen this on a full-size theater screen with a great sound system. Even on a home theater system, though, the sound design of this movie is awesome. Who knows, maybe the movie will make sense after a few more viewings..

I have read reviews from both parties: the ones that give it a 10 and claimed to have understood the movie, and the the ones that gave it a 1 and called it rubbish.I am here to settle this once and for all, it was rubbish. Why? Because this movie just looked like some stock photos and experimental auditioning joined together with no dialogue or music. Im not kidding, this movie contained the bare minimum of both. This isn't a sci-fi film but even the communication and behaviour between humans in this movie was unrealistic. This movie rises questions that never get answered. The question you will most likely ask yourself is ''what the actual f*ck?!''. This movie just felt like a really bad trip on acid.Trust me, i actually understood what the movie was about, i understood the subliminal messages but it did not make it better. There will be people out there posting things such as ''great movie, very abstract, modern, original, 10/10, only people who are clueless will down vote''.Really? Will you also give it a 10/10 when an artist shits on his camera screen and rolls the credits? Because that's very abstract, I don't understand it but i definitely haven't seen it before so it must be original too.Nah man, it's no big deal to be honest about a movie and how you feel towards it. If it's terrible then the producer will make another and hopefully this time it will be better. No need to encourage bad filming. Don't reward it with such ratings. My review is not even an opinion, it's what i saw on the screen, things are blurry, people moving in slow motions, barely any dialogue, no action, no answers. I might aswel watch paint dry for 9 hours.Better luck next time.
