Big Momma's House 2 (2006): Dir: John Whitesell / Cast: Martin Lawrence, Nia Long, Emily Proctor, Zachary Levi, Mark Moses: One humongous size dung of a film that sequels another major size piece of crap. Martin Lawrence dons the wig and fat suit once again to nanny three children while investigating their father. Like the pitiful The Pacifier the previous year he will assist the children in various activities while informing their parents of their faults and solve the case. Formula plot exists for nothing more than to conjure up another pile of crap. Director John Whitesell does his best but star Lawrence never looks convincing in his makeup. When Dustin Hoffman was cast in Tootsie the makeup was so convincing that all that was needed was his obvious talent to carry it through. No such luck here. Lawrence can be funny when the material is right but here he strikes out twice in an over the top performance that looks like a desperate attempt for attention. Nia Long plays his wife who at first figures him as a cheating husband but it is obvious that the screenwriter had little for her to do. Emily Proctor and Zachary Levi also appear although nothing anybody does helps this film along. Some Like It Hot and Tootsie are two comedies about dressing up in drag that work but Big Momma's House and its dreadful sequel are just one big mess that should be vanquished up Big Momma's anal track. Score: 1 / 10

My Take: Did we really need a sequel to BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE? BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE II is yet another example of unnecessary "ka-ching!" sequel from Hollywood that we never needed. Although funny at times with Martin Lawrence around, there's no reason at all to see it, whether you've seen the first film or not. Few jokes, usually repetitive, make a complete waste of time (even if it only runs for 99 min.).One of the film's flaws is its confusion about what it is. It's about Martin Lawrence's character, FBI agent Malcolm Turner, throwin' in the old Big Momma costume once more to go undercover. His mission is to investigate a woman (Emily Proctor), who's husband may be involved with a murder case. But the film lags with sappiness that, when it gets to the very serious side, it's confused and just plain lame.Martin Lawrence is still pretty funny, making some of those tired old humor quite effective. Lawrence has that zing that makes these old puns lively. But even Lawrence, funny as he is, is only one aspect that is possibly right about the film. The rest, the lame comedy script and the lame direction make up for a lousy comedy. Younger audiences will be amused by Lawrence, as much as preteens, but there are other films with the same appeal, and some and most of which are better, way better!Rating: * out of 5.

I'm sorry to say that this installment of the Big Momma franchise was even worse than the initiator, and as such, I fervently hope this doesn't turn into a "run." I didn't think Big Momma's House could be bested for worse Martin Lawrence movie, until I was dragged out to see this. Oy Vey, what a mess! Uneven comedy, suspect performances, lazy direction, and incoherent storyline mark this ... mark it my foot! It's branded...AS TRASH! Seriously folks, you could do something better with your afternoon/evening. Anything, in fact, would be better. It rates a 2.8/10 from...the Fiend :.

This is a fun, entertaining and just a funny movie. It is not anything that concerns deep thinking or anything to ponder about. I enjoyed it. Found myself laughing and having a good time with it. I wouldn't mind seeing it again. There is no meanings here beyond the obvious plot and some what unrealistic at that...but it's a good movie, and a fun movie with a good time for all. You won't be disappointed. I recommend it. I caught it for the first time on television and was glued to the television screen. What else can I say. Have a good time watching this Martin Lawrence movie. You can also catch the original Big Mommas's House if you want to see these films in sequence.
