For me I think the actors carried this film, and done the best with what they are given. I love Tye Sheridan and have been a fan ever since I saw him in the movie "Mud". I was at a resell store and saw John Travolta, Christoper Plummer, and Tye Sheridan were in this movie, so took a chance and bought it. There were a lot of holes/pieces missing in the script and it could have been better written overall.. One thing that bothered me was the son was sick, only once did he have issues with his ailment. Most of the time he looked and acted healthy and the movie could have developed this much better into the storyline.. Too there were lots of other holes, huge gaping holes in the plot. Still I won't pan it too much because overall on a slow day I somewhat enjoyed it and the actors in it. Also a bonus was one of the main characters in the film was from the TV series "Timeless" which i enjoy, she played the agent. It's sad sometimes movies could have been blockbusters if they were better developed or given more to go on. In this case it was the writing, too it is very similar to a movie I have seen before. See if you can figure out which one I am thinking of and see for yourself if you think it was retreaded!!

It is about motives. About loyalty, and how that fades away given the right amount of wrongdoing. It is about seizing opportunity against the odds. Looking for that spark of hope to hold on to. Yes, it all ends well, it ís Hollywood after all. But this movie manages to hold on to that gloom of despair for a long time, and shows that it is not all sunshine after the clouds have gone. It shows in the end that human existence is short of one main ingredient only; the time spent with loved ones. There is a heist in here, there is a cop, some villains and a forgery. It's entertainment, and not the main subject of this movie. Well shot, well lit, with ample telling silences. I liked it a lot. I liked the characters a lot, I liked Travolta acting, especially when he acts alongside his "son"

I know this film is dated 2014 and we're in 2016. I just saw it a couple of months ago; but now that I have, it's such a pleasure to watch the pros do their stuff. And man, they do it in this movie! Each and every one of the cast is to be commended! I love the entertainment industry because of actors like John Travolta, Christopher Plummer and that wonderful young actor, Tye Sheridan, who was perfect as Will Cutter, and the beautiful Jennifer Ehle as the mother.I didn't find this story the least bit boring at all. I'm such a sap when it comes to the emotional scenes as well. Maybe it's partly because of my Italian heritage. But the scene between Raymond and Will where they're at the beach and Raymond says perhaps they should travel to Fiji and other places, and Will says nothing at that moment and stares at his father. Then Raymond actually looks at his son and realizes that he may not last that long. But the look on Tye's face and then to see John Travolta's beautiful blue eyes fill up with tears, just touched my soul and spirit like never before. John Travolta has a way of touching my heart like no other actor can. Awesome!Bravo to the writer, Richard D'Ovidio, and Phillip Martin, the director. With all the junk that's out there, one can take pleasure in knowing we've got good writers and directors and actors who can really deliver!!! He can play any role you hand him. I loved him in Broken Arrow as the bad guy. He has the perfect expressions and/or gestures in his film, especially when the missile was aimed right at him--yeah, 'come on, bring it, baby'! Boom! LOL! He's one of my favorite actors.I was floored by Jennifer Ehle's performance as the mother, Kim. I could feel her uneasiness to meet her son--when at the restaurant she left to go to the restroom, I was thinking, oh, no, she's leaving period! But she didn't. Jennifer's delivery was nothing less than excellent! She had a small part but it was quite effective! Christopher Plummer, a veteran actor, is without a doubt one of the best performers out there! I'm sorry I can't name everyone but to the entire cast I say, well done; very well done! Great all around film. Ten stars from me!!!

This was actually a decent film to watch. Don't be mistaken it is not an action movie about a heist job. This is a film about the length that a father will go to be there for his sick child.John Travolta plays a forger who has 10 month left on his sentence, but decided to do a dirty deal with a gangster to get him out earlier. While this comes as a surprise to most other characters, it is later revealed that he had to do it. Keegan played Anson Mount, is the guy that got him out and is now asking John to forge a masterpiece in exchange for his services. This is where the plot thickness (LOL) John meets and realizes that Abigail Spenceris who plays agent Paisley is a cop, this intrigues her and she starts to follow him. Without going into to much detail of the film, John's character Raymond is only trying to be a good father. He is doing everything he can to help his son while his own life is getting more and more dangerous. The acting in this film was for most part great. John Travolta does a great job, Raymond has some very unique trait marks that are very different to all other characters that John has played over his great career. Anson at first seemed like the wrong guy, but by the middle of the film when the plot gets revealed you realize that his character is suppose to be like that. Abigail was a bit of a waste in this film, she does a good job as the DEA agent, but can't say that she was great, every one else did what they were paid to do.The negative of the film, is that you can see that this wasn't a big budget film and that locations were pretty terrible. They used a school as a prison. hahaha.... and some acting was below average, i just don't want to write names. The story was interesting, had a lot of meaning, and the main character is some-one we all can relate in one sense or another.
