Earthlings (2005)

This film depicts a microcosm of everything you never wanted to know about the treatment of animals worldwide, from the various meat and animal product industries to animal testing and research to the pet euthanasia epidemic.I made the transition to a vegetarian diet over the past two weeks, and I heard about and watched this movie yesterday. I cried a few times during the film; I had to pause it and take breaks because I couldn't deal with what I was seeing; and on several occasions I wanted to just stop watching. In the end, I made it through the entire movie in about three hours. This morning I couldn't eat breakfast, and tonight I am still dealing with stress and depression as I attempt to process the horrors that I have witnessed.I am traumatized. I will never look at a jug of milk, a carton of eggs, a leather belt, an animal fur, or any piece of meat the same way again.Nor should anyone.The revelations contained within this film are, without a doubt, among the greatest gifts that I have ever received in my life. I have spent twenty-nine years on this Earth living in ignorance of the oceans of blood that are spilled daily for the sake of my convenience and comfort; having now been duly informed, I have arrived at the inevitable conclusion that I can do just fine with a bit less of both. If, like me, you wish for these horrors to stop, then you need only to stop Demanding that they continue; the rest will sort itself out naturally.

There are no words, a masterpiece.One watching was all I needed, my life was changed forever, my perception on the world altered. So much tragedy, but so beautiful in regards to the message that it puts forward, I have never seen a film so FULL of power.Please watch this life-changing documentary. It can be hard, there's no question there. It IS so hard to watch at times - BUT stick with it, it's so worth it.Wonderful narration, difficult moments that force you to confront the harshness of reality, but what this film leaves you with is beyond compression, we CAN be the change in this world, if we can simply stick with the images on the screen and allow our understandings and consciousnesses to develop through this artful and honest documentary. Earthlings showcases the horrifying acts of inhumanity of Man against other fellow beings, Animals.It will disturb you and definitely leave you scarred, but that is what it's all about.To bring out the reality and showcase the truth,and if this leaves you disturbed, then you'll know that Truth is always a bitter pill to swallow, and you need to act now, something which remains the main objective of the people involved with it. I don't recommend everyone to watch Earthlings, especially because of it's explicit nature. But if you can handle it, you should definitely watch the incredibly informative Earthlings, after all, it's about Us.

Some of this information I have come across in books, but that is nothing compared to the horror of watching it. I burst into tears repeatedly while watching it and had to take many breaks. This is not an easy film to watch, but the information in it is vital. I have nothing to add in terms of summary that others who have reviewed this film have not already said. This is an unflinching look at how humans treat other species. I simply wanted to thank everyone involved and everyone who reviewed it for their kind words. Part of me feels as though we just went through something together that hopefully can make us better people. I hope to see humans as a species mature in the future. Thank you.
