This was lovely, uplifting, entertaining and absolutely terrific! I totally loved this film. I was so pleasantly surprised. It wasn't what I expected. It's not a black love story - it's a LOVE story where the characters just happen to be black. Mbatha and Parker played their roles exceptionally well. They were endearing and flawed, bemused and brave and they portrayed the star and the cop to perfection. Driver was terrific as the evil, money-grabbing mom-manager. Oh yeah, and the movie was cool too. The film had the right feel, budget, cinematography, dialogue and dramatic twists. Everyone should see this movie, really, I mean everyone!!

Watched this movie multiple times and I still can't get enough of it! With this generation that we have now, we often forget that the artists/celebrities are still human beings and I love how this movie shows and relate to a lot of people in Hollywood! I mean not everyone has the same story but there's always more behind the cameras and what the media portrays! I'd love to add more but I do not want to spoil it! It's a must watch though no lie :)I really hope there's more people who can see the movie! Oh and I love that it's on Netflix, like I said I've watched it a few times Already and I still plan on watching it over and over again! Basically I really felt the message from the movie and I hope other celebrities did too, specially here in the U.S but I'm also sure the pressure is also overwhelming anywhere around the world, I mean who knows. Oh and her mom in the movie?!?! I've loved her even from her other Movies, she's really good! But they all were actually! Except for the rapper I think he's really the one one I didn't like in there but if like for you guys to see it for yourself instead! 😊

This was a tremendous movie not only with the song lyrics but the making behind the movie. Gugu plays this to a tee and she is a fine upcoming actress I hope makes it in the movie world. But it is all about the meaning "between the lines"! You must pay attention to the very beginning and the dialogue to understand the rest. However, the meaning of life is showing who you are, and being proud of it...and if you are afraid of being the "real you" it may take the "love" and "compassion" of a stronger force to bring it out in you! This movie should appeal to both genders but I know every women globally would enjoy it! It brings tears of joy streaming down one's cheeks! Congrats Gugu and Nate for a brilliant performance by both of you! LadyAnn68

For those who say it's a predictable movie, they need to ask themselves this, what romance movie doesn't have the fall in love ending?!?! The movie does an amazing job at showing the parallels in the lives of Kaz and Noni as they both are trapped in the lives of their parents. Also the script writer did an amazing job choosing the song "Blackbird" to represent the life of Noni and placing it as the first song Noni sang to show it's symbolic value. Noni who had no father and her mother lost value in their relationship, was a "Blackbird" who had no one who loved her. Then Kaz came along and helped her fly and find love, the ending shows it perfectly. Overall the symbolic value this movie has is impressive and the acting was amazing. Great Movie!
