I picked this title up in a Dollar General bin, which is something I enjoy doing to find bad movies. This one isn't bad. It's British... which pleasantly surprised me (I had read nothing about this movie obviously), the humor was Britsih, settings British... how refreshing to not see a Sci-Fi movie set in a big city... just normal people. It had Gillian Anderson which is never a bad thing. The story was simple, and the ending obvious, but still... It was fun, the effects weren't bad, the dialogue had humor and Ben Kingsly as a bad guy made me smile. It's 90 minutes of unpretentious fun, try it.

Aimed at the CBBC teen market, this reminds me of some kind of Terminator Salvation meets Tripods. (Ask someone 40 plus!)The plot doesn't seem overly logical to me... The war with the robot overlords has damaged things so much that the homes and infrastructure of the remaining humans are relatively untouched with everything functional. Street lights blaze away, no one looks gaunt or starving with their nice clean clothes etc. These superkids can disable advanced robot technology very simply, whilst the adults under curfew can still have a good old Victorian style knees up including bare knuckle fighting! Maybe the booze is provided free by the robots so they can study drunken humans? Anyway why travel vast distances across the Milky Way to put us in an unnatural situation for them to scrutinise us? All the Transformers had to do was watch TV and hack the net!The robot overlords are obviously not that good at Overlording as they need a pantomime human villain to do the more mundane stuff, like kidnapping and using the mind probe machine and other admin duties. I'm not really sure how he fitted into the plot as the whole premise seemed so ludicrous and un-apocalyptic that I got bored at the point where Gillian Anderson escaped from the castle and stole the horse!I understand this was low budget but then so were the original episodes of Dr Who. The cybermen made for much better, and scarier adversaries. None of the characters had any depth and the acting lacklustre.I think the average teen would struggle to get anything out of this film, let alone anyone over the age of 18.

Robot Overlords...a look at the poster made me expect something along the lines of Sharknado or some Z-level movie. Oh wait...it's got Ben Kingsley and Gillian Anderson...in a cheap movie about alien Robots. Huh? OK, it wasn't supercheap with a budget of 21m$ but the VFX look like they tried their best but they just don't look real (but not bad either). The thing is: the story is nothing special, in fact it's rather lame. So one has to wonder why Anderson & Kingsley wanted to play in this. They both must have lots of bills to pay I guess. I can't imagine they read the script and jumped on their phone to convince their agent to get them a part in the film. We can conclude that this film hardly adds anything to the genre, the acting is okay and the effects aren't bad but it really does not stand out in any way so I find it hard to recommend this flick.

This is a real piece of crap. Many holes in the plot and the cinematography is as bad as hell.If your time has a value don't watch this movie. Get names such as Gillian Anderson and Ben Kingsley isn't enough when there isn't a storyThe storyline is stupid beyond anyone (above 4 year old) belief. The dialogs are moving between bad to embarrassingly cheesy. The acting is so so. The CGI is outdated. There is very little good to write about it. Totally Disappointeddon't Watch it.
