How can people stand watching such abysmal film-making? It is an insult to any kid trying to tell an original story that, for over 15 years, Emmanuel Mouret has been making those bad empty supposedly sentimental unmoving pictures. The story is classic high-brow sentimental, but it is executed with so little talent: dead-flat dialogue, dumb-numb directing. And seriously, watching Sir Emmanuel Mouret with his unflappable Droopy dead-pan for more than 5 minutes is quite a pain.Actually this kind of movie is for pretentious sociopaths who revel in stuff that they, the True Believers only, can appreciate.

The 2007 French movie (Un baiser s'il vous plaît)is light summer fare, more rom than com, more sweet amusement that LOL, "more quirky than wacky," as reviewer Roger Moore said in the Orlando Sentinel. A Parisienne (the delectable Julie Gayet) stranded on the empty streets of Nantes with no taxis in sight accepts a ride to her hotel from a stranger (Michaël Cohen), the ride leads to dinner together and obvious attraction, and that leads to his request for a goodnight kiss, "a kiss without consequences," as they are both involved with other people. She says no and is persuaded (in fact this entire movie is filled with effectively clever persuasion) to tell him the story that she says would explain her refusal. That story becomes the majority of the movie, which Stephen Rea in the Philadelphia Inquirer, calls "impossibly French." Kisses can be very powerful, at least they are to the couple she describes, played charmingly by Virginie Ledoyen and Emmanuel Mouret, who also wrote and directed the film. They have been best friends for years and he, in a funk over his lack of physical connection with anyone, persuades her—a married woman—to kiss him. And, while the premise may be a little unrealistic, it's lighthearted fun, delivered smoothly.

"Shall We Kiss?" is a French romantic comedy film directed by Emmanuel Mouret. It features starring Virginie Ledoyen, Mouret, Julie Gayet, Michaël Cohen, Frédérique Bel and Stefano Accorsi. The story begins with two strangers who end up attracted to each other, even though they both are involved in relationships with others. The woman refuses to kiss the man goodnight after a dinner together, explaining that a single kiss can alter a life. This set-up acts as a framing device for the main story, a tale she shares with him about friends who complicate their lives by becoming sexually involved. After an enjoyable night together, Gabriel attempts to kiss her but is rejected. To explain her reaction, Emilie tells a second-hand story of some complex Paris relationships.Refreshingly, here comes a movie which shows that marital infidelity is not without serious repercussions. This winning comedy only hits its romantic high when we return to that framing story, the storyteller who won't casually kiss because she knows, damn well, that sometimes a kiss is just a kiss, and sometimes it's a lot more. And what's great about this film is that it turns out to be an entertaining film that also ends up being more sophisticated and thoughtful about love and morality than it first appears.Watch it and see it for yourself.

I don't want to have to give this a lower score, but i cannot justify a higher score. It was mildly enjoyable, but it was slow moving. It a wonderful intimate moment on the bed where it was just the shot of his hand on her body. It was very well shot and structured. The fact that that scene was the best scene of the movie made the rest of it seem mediocre especially as the storyline became even more ridiculous. The performances where nothing special, but the two main actors sold the love scenes. I do think at the end there was some originality and had a lot of potential, but seeing movies like this makes me think of other movies I have seen that have done it better. The only reason that this even gets a 7 and not a 6 is because I enjoyed the story structure, but it wore on me after a while and the scene when they first make love. I also did not really care if the two actors kissed at the and it might have been more enjoyable if they left up to the imagination of the viewer. If it served a purpose with respect to the characters maybe, but I do not think it pulled it off at all.
