Pitch Perfect 3 (2017) is the third installment, hopefully the last of the Pitch Perfect series. Only reason that I say I hope it's the last is because once you go as low in quality as this film, it is time to stop. I am a fan of the first Pitch Perfect, I gave that film an 8, admittedly I have not seen the second installment, but I don't feel like I needed to to get this one. This film gave me a very hollow, empty feeling from start to finish. The comedy has stopped working for the most part, yes there are a few laughs, but not a lot. Also, the plot isn't that interesting and the plot delves into absolute insanity. Like it goes from regular Pitch Perfect stuff to an action/spy movie and I don't feel like it worked. If they could do this well, then I say sure go for it, but they just didn't. The characters are the same, but they've just been placed in a bad film, and that's sad because you want the final film in a series to be good. I am sorry to say that Pitch Perfect only gets a 4.

'Pitch Perfect 3' may be an entertaining film, just like it's predecessors, however it lacks the charm that made the first film a success. The simple goal in any comedy film is to make it funny and entertain its audience, which 'Pitch Perfect 3' certainly does. Its well-loved characters are back, with all of their quirks and crass one-liners. Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) is the obvious highlight of the film, which was intended. While she may have only been a minor character in the first film, everybody found her that funny that she had a bigger role in the sequel. I was quite unsure about that idea, as I preferred her as a side character - she was funnier that way. Everything is funnier in small doses. However, in 'Pitch Perfect 3' Wilson's character is taken further than just having a bigger part and she now had her own storyline throughout the film that was essentially ridiculous and far-fetched. It was quite a weak attempt to make this film unique from the rest of the films, but in the end, it was wildly amusing and produced several laughs. Other than that storyline, the remainder of the movie felt just like the other movies - especially with Becca's (Anna Kendrick) storyline which was essentially the same as the previous film. The cast itself, with their comedic deliverance, were able to save this film from being an absolute bore. Kendrick and Wilson were the standouts in the film, as far as cast members go, along with Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld. As for the music, which the Pitch Perfect franchise is so well known for, was ultimately a disappointment. It wasn't as good as the original film, the highly anticipated 'riff-off' was a disaster and the finale had the wrong focus. Alas many of these flaws, 'Pitch Perfect 3' was still able to give out many cheap laughs and is worth watching if you are a fan of the previous films.

This is the third movie revolving around the Barden Bella acapella group. There is choreography and singing, but into the mix a little danger and international intrigue courtesy of Fat Amy's dad who wants to reconnect her for selfish purposes. The songs are good, it's great to see the gang back together again. The story, meh...it's the third one folks.Sing along, laugh and enjoy the frivolity. Worth the rental if you are a fan.
