I should have read the reviews here before seeing this. BIG disappointment! The slow motion on the circus acts were a pain in the butt! Just awful! No live audience & there was a complete disconnect. Too many emphasis on visual effects & the circus acts actually became cameos (not even supporting acts)! Mindless visuals one after another & complete nonsensical nor cohesiveness on the story. What's with the lame tricycle that paddles itself? This is nothing compared to the surprise, joy, excitement and amazement I got when I saw Dralion, Alegria, Quidam, etc. This one really sucked.

This is only the second Cirque du Soleil show I've seen (I saw Saltimbanco live last year and also bought the DVD, which I was impressed with). Maybe I don't have enough experience with Cirque to be qualified to express an informed opinion, but this did seem cobbled together.I in no way intend to minimize or trivialize the performers themselves: all are top-notch, and some of the performances are breathtaking. That huge gizmo with the circling barrels... darn, I have no idea what to call it or even what show it's from... it's impressive enough when the artists are running and jumping around inside the rotating cylinders, but then one of them hops right out and not only runs around the OUTSIDE of the thing, he runs on his HANDS as it flies through the air! Then he jump-ropes for a while! Man, if that rope caught on one of those moving parts, it would be Game Over. I don't know how he did it, but I do know that now the most amazing thing I've seen in a James Cameron film is NOT a special effect! The 'story', such as it is, is a pseudo Alice In Wonderland setup where an earthly character gets lost in a weird world and tries to find her way out. I just wish she hadn't been lost quite so long with the Beatles... I'm not a fan. I would like to have heard and seen more from the Elvis show. I found the ending satisfying.Worth a look for fans and the random curious, but I prefer Saltimbanco all in all.

This is indeed a film about a carnival, with some fantasy elements thrown in.The visuals are spectacular.------Scores-------Cinematography: 10/10 Watched this in HD but not 3D. It was still quite beautiful.Sound: 2/10 My first experience of Cirque du Soleil was the soundtrack of Alegria, with no video, but with powerful singing. When I first saw Alegria, I was disappointed, because the visuals were so inferior to the singing. In this film, the visuals are striking, fully as good as I hoped for in Alegria. However, the sound track in this film is weak, unimpressive, hardly a match for the amazing visuals.Acting: 3/10 I have no interest in (or enjoyment of) clowns, carnies, and mimes. If you like them, you might find this film more palatable.Screenplay: 3/10 There was a screenplay? Were there characters I was supposed to care about? Enjoy the visuals; that is all you are going to get: art direction, not screenplay.

I was intrigued by the title. But, now I know why I shouldn't be watching movies simply based on the title & trailer. No dialogs, no plot, no screenplay - just plain circus show with crescendos here & there. The cast is directly brought out of some professional circus band. The lead characters seem to be happy the makers cast them in a specious flick. Their expressions evince that, throughout. The music is the only thing worth listening to. And since the dialogs are absent, it will save you, should you take a chance to watch this horrendous torture. In general sense, I like watching circus shows. But, this is monotonous, illogical & increasingly circuitous. A cruel 0.8/10 for this blunder. Instead, go watch a native show. That'll be entertaining & economic.BOTTOM LINE: Not at all recommended because there IS nothing to recommend. Could be the lowest rated movie in my list. Stay away & let the glamor not fool you!Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YESProfanity/Vulgarity: No | Sex/Foreplay: No | Nudity: Mediocre | Violence: Mild | Gore: No | Smoking/Alcohol: No
