If you don't give this movie a good 35-40 minute chance, you miss out on an interesting story with some good old fashion horror. If you like the 80's and past Wes Craven films, (like I do)I bet you will enjoy this movie. It has definite nuances of both.Admittedly there are some corny parts and some inconsistencies but the movie was still enjoyable. I LOVED the unexpected humor in it! And the twists and surprises. With only a few exceptions the acting was very well done. The cinematography, editing, camera use, sound, score, and special effects were all professionally and adequately done. It was fun to see some familiar faces at the beginning of their career. The story and pace does go at a slower pace then probably most horror fans appreciate,(it takes a good 30-35 minutes to really get rolling....then an hour before it starts coming together) but for me, it was perfect. There is a bit more bloody parts then Wes Cravens usual stuff, but it isn't used for shock, and the amount appropriate to sell the scene. There are also cussing (for those that are offended by that)All in all this was a better horror film then I've seen in a long time. Maybe I'm getting to be old school, but much of the torture porn and shock gore and violence does not a horror movie make. I like jump scares, and creepy atmosphere and music and a slow burn. This wasn't a supper GREAT movie...but it was still VERY well made and I enjoyed it. It was worth watching.

It was a pretty interesting idea, but some core aspects about a horror film were done very poorly in this one, particularly pacing. it felt too fast and when you watch the film you'll see what I mean. There is minimal exposition (which is key to building character development and the characters are 1 dimensional. It was sufficiently gory and had a freaky villain but the twist at the end didn't really match the person of the killer. The film has some great atmosphere too used jumpscares quite a bit.It could have been so much more but it would have had to fix all these issues, particularly pacing and characters

I was reading through the reviews on here and was a little surprised at how much hate there is for this movie. It's really not a bad movie. In my opinion, it had a creative plot and mythology to it. I've never heard of a premise like the one this film presented, so it was refreshing to see that it wasn't a typical run-of-the-mill slasher film, or some found footage movie, or some haunted house movie. This movie was had a unique, creative premise that pulled me in right away.A big criticism is that this movie is kind of confusing, but that's because it has a complicated backstory/mythology. You actually have to listen because there are some very important plot points that might take you a few seconds to process in your head. The "schizophrenic" elements to the plot made things very interesting, in my opinion! Other things I liked about the movie: -It had a cool setting, although I wish there were more scenes that take place on the bridge they feature during one of the first kills.-It spent some time actually developing some of the characters, which is something you don't see in every horror film. Adam aka "Bug" was a likable protagonist to this movie. I liked the relationship dynamic he had with his best friend, Alex, too. A few other characters did fall victim to the "I'm only in this movie to add to the body count" but there will always be those filler characters in horror films, I guess.-The acting was on point, for the most part. Many horror films feature cringe-worthy acting, where many actors sleepwalk through their scenes and deliver their dialogue in a wooden manner. This usually takes me out of the movie a bit and makes me focus on the awful acting. It's distracting. From what I saw, though, the kids they picked to star in this movie were pretty good. Nothing Oscar-worthy, obviously, but they're adequate. Especially Max Thieriot, who plays the main character, Bug. I think he has a lot of potential. Now, there are some major flaws about this movie though. Let's start: -The Riverton Ripper...to be honest, he wasn't that scary. I think it was a bad decision to have him speak. His dialogue was awful and sounded like it was written in 5 seconds. Very generic dialogue. Also, the way he looked was just a little too generic.-The kills weren't very memorable. There's a lot of kills, but most of them are just a quick stab and there's not a ton of build up. I wish the movie had more elaborate murder scenes.-Some of the characters were just bad, specifically Penelope and Fang. They were both annoying and Fang was extremely unlikable.-The finale to the movie was not very exciting. I felt like they could have tried harder and made it more extravagant and exciting.Overall, I thought this was a decent movie. It's not scary, but it is a fun movie to watch and it is entertaining. This movie has some good pros and some serious cons, but if you don't take it too seriously, you might appreciate the creativity it has to offer. It's an okay movie to pass the time if you're a horror fan.My rating: 6/10

There was absolutely nothing I enjoyed about this film. Nothing. I wanted to see this so badly, believe it o not. The trailers looked promising enough, or so I thought. I didn't like much so here you go kicking off the Fall Film Season of 2013 for films I watched we get this trash.1. The Script- The Script was completely trash. All the movements and dialogue were just ridiculously stupid. The script was so unoriginal and was as if I were watching a hundred different people saying the same lines but in different horror films. Wow 2. The Direction - Man, Wes Craven you didn't give your all on this one. The direction was terrible. None of the actors looked as if they knew what to do, and just stumbled to there deaths awkwardly.3. The Characters/Development - Man, the character development in this film sucked. All we see are 7 random characters who we learn so little about before we watch them killed seconds in-between another one. Like for example "Jay Chan" all I know about him is that he's a Chinese dud who spits in the river every night because he has to go cross the bridge to get home. I mean WTF. I know so little about him and then he's chopped off.4. Camera Work - Man, this film was shot so clumsy. I mean the camera is all over the place and just doesn't stay steady.5. Editing - This film was edited horribly. I mean it cuts back and forth terribly and it just doesn't make sense it's so sloppy.6. Villain - I don't even know.7. Music - The music doesn't shout scary, it shoats thriller or whatever. Not good choice.8. Mostly everything else - This film just doesn't work at all. I fails on everything, from its opening scene, to the death scenes. It's confusing, stupid and a great waste of an intriguing idea. This movie sucks. F-
