Flypaper (2011)

I came into this knowing nothing about it apart from a brief on-screen description. The opening credits gave a clue as to the tone of the story with the cartoons of odd bodies and strange happenings which reminded me a lot of the Pink Panther opening credits. The start was a bit confusing and didn't grab straight away. But as the story evolved I was reminded very much of the movie Clue with all the different characters with who knows what secrets. Its silly, black and funny, and although I wasn't rolling in the aisle it was still an entertaining little movie recommended for light relief.

This is one of those films that I will be watching again and again.The story is very good - I have just dropped one star as I do not feel that the skills Patrick Dempsey's character has are explained well. Though the story is not complicated, it is one of those that will benefit from a second viewingAll the bad guys' characters are played very well and with depth - my favourites being 'Peanut Butter' and 'Jelly'. The Jewish bad dude's dialogue is a hoot.This is something I can watch with my wife that is not schmaltzy.Nice twist at the end too.

It's a nice little thriller that has quite a lot of flaws. But the same can be said about a lot of other movies too. So while I'm not a particularly big fan of movies who are obviously trying too hard to be cool, it almost works with this one. The sentiment is good and the main characters are really working good off each other.There might be some twists that are not as convincing as others (going back to the trying to be cool/funny bit), but the movie still manages to entertain with the variety of characters thrown into the mix. It might be cliché a few times during the running time and some might wish it to be more extreme in some ways, but overall it is nice little fun

I enjoyed this movie. It had a not just twisty, but twisted plot, with a neurotic man pointing out what would have eventually been obvious, but he carries the others along to the discovery of clues to what is going on, and hilariously drives the bank robbers nuts, when they are not doing that to each other. One thing that the other reviewers fail to mention is that this is a very DARK comedy. At the outset of the robbery, someone is killed, the first of many. In some ways this movie is reminiscent of the old Agatha Christie "10 Little Indians" plot line. Bodies keep cropping up, so this is also a murder mystery. Do keep your suspension of disbelief topped off, because you will need it. No outside response to multiple explosions and gunfire is not adequately explained. (And then there's...well, you'll see.) But if you can manage to just go with it, this movie can be very funny. Many lose ends left hanging, but who cares....
