I actually can't believe this film has such a low rate I really enjoyed it from the start till the end it really is just light comedy enjoyable to watch just a nice film for you & the girls. It's upsetting that people are so offended by the way Lynn is treated in the film but that basicully I'd the harsh realitys off life. Apart from that the film did make me laugh a lot it has these little one liners that are just really funny apart from that I love queen Latifah she was really the reason I watched it because I've never seen her do a bad film yet. Beauty Shop isn't a bad film it's nice really and teaches you to sort off go out and try and achieve your dreams and not to let anyone walk over you. The plot is OK and really it's just something to throw on if your in the mood for a laugh and something nice and simple to watch.

If there wasn't Andie MacDowell in this movie, I would never picked it up. But even her acting can't save it.For a beauty shop, the script is so badly written that you want to tear your hairs! The cliché of this kind of movie is the parlor room where the customers and staff are all together. So there is a lot of characters, but right there, they are rather dull, except for Alicia Silvertsone.First of all, she is cute and plays very sweetly a strong willed but a bit dumb young woman. Thus, she helps to open a debate about racial issues. I am often surprised to see that in American productions, all the cast can be afro-American (see "Prince of Bel-Air and other sitcoms…). My country isn't a model so far, because we shows maybe more mix but with less exposure also! So it's interesting to hear about that about Alicia's character but sadly, it isn't the main thing! Andie plays a little part but she is great because she seems to be a very down-to-earth woman, who can enjoy a good laugh sometimes!

Not giving up is a way to go. Following your dreams will get you there, ever if the road is very bumpy. In "Beauty Shop" Queen Latifah plays Gina Norris, a single mother and profession hair stylist who lives in Atlanta, Georgia because her daughter is going to a prestigious school of music. She leaves the beauty shop in the city because the owner Jorge(Kevin Bacon) is a credit hog, and a jerk. Not only her, but her other friend Lynn(Alicia Silverstone), a shampooer goes along with the ride. With the help of some family and friends, the shop would be a hit. There were some of the people who kinda had issues with Gina having Lynn working with her. Gina just did away with them "birds", and the others didn't say a thing about it. Because they didn't want to do with them either. In that shop everyone had something to say, and was not shy about. Gina had it all, until vandals wrecked the shop. But that didn't stop her one bit. Common grounds made the business strong, and with Gina running the shop, who can stop her? Not even Jorge could throw a monkey-wrench into the plan. All he was left with is shorter hair. Very good movie, sends a powerful message as well. 3.5 out of 5 stars!

I am fed up with some people why do they have to call the film racist? also why cant they see this film for what it really is a comedy that makes people laugh no matter what colour you may be. The problem with some people they cant see beyond their nose, they alway thinking that its got to mean something horrible wrong. that why more people cause war then talk. I am a white person and I could not stop laughing though out the film. Queen was brilliant throughout it, and I was not offended because I saw what it was comedy and it was funny, some people cant laugh at them selves these days, as long as they laugh with you and not at you what is the problem. I would suggest if you are fed or not, you have got to watch this film you wont stop laughing believe me and rest of the stars were also brilliant to watch .
