Bruce Campbell to me is one of the best comedic actors ever. From The Evil Dead to this film he deserves to become a instant classic. This film is perfect for him because c'mon it's Bruce freaking Campbell!!! Now that I'm done with talking about how cool he is i'll go into the story. The story follows Bruce Campbell as himself in production with another film when a monster appears in a little town 6 or so hours from his trailer. That's when a fan kidnaps him and tries to get him to fight the monster and give the town hope. This deserves grade A movie status and a theater re-release all over again. The only problem was it felt long at some points and didn't go as smoothe as let's say Waterboy. Either way Campbell is equal to Jim Carrey in acting.

MY NAME IS BRUCE is, as the title would suggest, an affectionate B-movie tribute to Bruce Campbell, directed by and starring the actor as...well, himself. It's a cheap and cheerful outing which sees Campbell travelling to a hick town, where he must do battle with an ancient Chinese demon with a penchant for decapitating innocent townsfolk.Whether you enjoy this film or not depends on how much you like the star and how well you know his persona. Because MY NAME IS BRUCE is chock-full of jokes, some of them subtle, many of them obvious. What is obvious is that Campbell has a great sense of humour and is willing to laugh at himself all the while.Fans will spot many familiar faces from the past (including THE EVIL DEAD's Ellen Sandweiss, INTRUDER's Dan Hicks and the ubiquitous Ted Raimi) and references to earlier movies from Campbell's career. As for this film itself, well, it's what you'd expect from a low budget B-flick; lots of cheesy gore, effects and dumb characters. Not a masterpiece then, but it got its fair share of laughs out of this viewer.

The people who never liked or even knew BC will never understand this film. This film is the second BC effort as a director and not only actor after so-so Man with a Screaming Brain. I see many people bashing the film because of how "The filmmakers" described Bruce as a total whiner and looser... hey, did you even see who is that "filmmaker"?. It is Bruce Cambpell himself. And the film is self-irony humor done in an excellent way (like when the lady screams: You sucked in Moontrap). not everyone likes this kind of humor maybe, but I completely do (my kind of humor that goes well with my Zodiac sign). The special effects are top notch, the main villain is funny as hell (what can be more funny than God of War & bean curd). Actually the real Guan DI, or even Guan Yu (http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/324162/Guandi) is a real historical general and became god, and is still worshiped especially in southern parts of China, hong Kong, etc...What can I add, a great horror comedy (less horror, more comedy) for Bruce Cambpell fans

Teenagers in the tired mining town of Goldlick vandalizes the local graveyard and releases GuanDi, god of war and protector of the dead from the mining shaft where 100 Chinese souls were trapped. Now GuanDi is after the rest of the town. The surviving teen Jeff is a big Bruce Campbell fan. He kidnaps Bruce to rid the town of GuanDi. Bruce is a famous B-movie actor and also a drunken loud mouth arrogant divorced loser. Bruce thinks this is a birthday gag from his agent Mills Toddner (Ted Raimi) and happily goes along with the GuanDi hunt.Bruce Campbell is playing his alter-ego as a real A-hole. He's putting all his might into this. There are a lot of inside jokes about his other movies as well as a few alumni from those movies. The most recognizable is Ted Raimi. People who are familiar with those movies would understand those jokes. However they aren't particularly funny. Bruce Campbell is really trying hard but he doesn't have anybody to play with. The other actors are mostly amateurs and it feels like it. The GuanDi song is kinda catchy although they use it a little too much. The movie is just a little too amateurish and not quite funny enough.
