Living alone in the wilderness, a survivalist looking for shelter to continue living in the middle of a zombie apocalypse finds a pair of travelers attempting to get out of the wilderness alive and finds the courage within herself to deal with her past traumas in order to help them. This here was quite the bland and generally unappealing effort. Most of the film's problems stem from the fact that this one plays off so much like a minimalist effort for much of it's running time. There's not a whole lot going on here as there's way too much of the first half taken up here with the girl simply out in the wilderness doing nothing. From washing her clothes in the lake to going around gathering wood and other items around the woods and generally laying around trying to pass the time, things start off on such a dull and boring pace that it's incredibly hard to get into just with that level. That carries into the rest of the film as nothing at all happens here even with the introduction of the other characters which bogs this down even further with no action and an utterly dreadful tone even if it did have something interesting happening during that time. The other factor against this is that the localized setting makes it look cheap and low-budget with the type of one-note setting that doesn't really generate much in the way of action or interest for the large part as it consists of nothing but going back and forth in the same general areas that really doesn't offer much going on here at all. With these scenes interspersed by the utterly uninteresting and bland moments of the characters' flashbacks to the past which really make up even more time here that this one never really explains anything at all. It takes so long to even realize that we're in a zombie apocalypse that it doesn't really feel like much of a horror film because of that which is a huge mistaken opportunity. With a lame amount of special effects work here on the so-called zombies and a truly awful twist in the finale that makes this end on a sour note, there's almost nothing of worth here as the technical qualities displayed are all it has going for it.Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language, Full Nudity and Violence.

Literally nothing is happening in this movie. Slow and terribly boring. Basically it's people camping and sitting around. Nothing happens. After almost 60 minutes I decided that I had wasted already enough of my life and decided to stop it. You hope it's interesting for the first 10 minutes and then it's just endless boredom and nothingness.Avoid.

What a little gem! HERE ALONE follows a woman who's trying to survive alone in the woods. She soon finds company, with a man and his daughter joining her camp. Unfortunately, not everybody gets along...HERE ALONE is a zombie movie with very few zombies. But in essence, it is what the genre was always about: The plight of people in extreme situations. The movie focuses much on the interactions of its characters, not so much on the violence. HERE ALONE is calm, slow, and ultimately very strong on the emotional front.Besides the good acting, I have to point out the beautiful cinematography and camera work (great use of depth of field, beautiful landscape shots). But most importantly, the superb directing: The first few scenes are almost entirely told with images, little mini stories unfolding entirely through the actions of characters rather than through dialogue. Just when this may become boring, things change— the plot pacing is perfect, if you're in for a zombie movie that takes its time... If you're in for a violent gore flick, give this one a miss.

Usually I don't reference other's reviews, but one said "this is what the walking dead wants to be," another said "unpredictable", only one other review said what this film is: bad. This film is boring, poorly written and actually is pretty dumb. I like nature scenes as much as the next person who enjoys nature, but the first twenty minutes tell you little about what's going on other than the main character is bathing in some lake and taking water from it, while living out of a car. The acting is so-so since no one really has to stretch. Some biological even has taken place "A virus" that is laying waste to humanity. I don't want to spoil anything so that's all I say. The few infected who show up have makeup that wouldn't make it on FACE OFF. But the later human interpersonal interactions are so telegraphed and the ending is so stupid, that I'm amazed I was able to sit through this at all. I'm fairly sure that the good reviews came from people who know those who made this, or worked on it, something all too common on IMDb. So if you want to waster part of your life (as I'm sure many of us have done) watch this. If not, skip it.
