The stuff is a b-horror film from the mid 80's. It is classified as a "body horror film". The general idea is that a substance is found that is one of the best tasting products in the world, but it is actually a living, hive mind creature intent on taking over humanity. After reading rave reviews about 'The Stuff', I decided to give it a go. I was raised on horror films from the 80's and 90's and am a gore hound at heart. The stuff was listed as one of the top body horror films of the 80's and it intrigued me.But it wasn't anything that I expected. For a body horror film, the stuff is incredibly non-violent. There are a few scenes that may be slightly disturbing, but it's few and far between. Further, the film suffers from terrible writing and characters that making completely stupid decisions. Scenes jump all over the place, the overall plot hardly makes any sense. A great example is when the main character Moe is trying to expose the stuff as a dangerous substance, so while trespassing on private property, instead of taking photos for evidence he decides he has to steal one of their trucks as evidence. I mean, what?Or how about how the film makes it look like that the entire population is in love with The Stuff, only to broadcast a radio show that says it's bad and suddenly they manage to just make it all go away? I mean really.I am no stranger to old horror films, but The Stuff is just absolutely absurd and boring in almost every capacity.

Two people find white stuff oozing from the ground in a pile of snow, one of the men tastes it and thinks it is the best thing he has ever tasted. When they bring it back more and more people start to like it so the ooze is marketed as a desert called THE STUFF. When a little boy sees the desert move by it's self in his fridge he decides that the desert is evil. He continues his assumption as his family start acting really weird and buy lots and lots of the stuff and try to force the boy to try some. When he escapes from his family he meets up with a man who also thinks something is up about this desert. The two join together also with a woman and also an African/American man. The group of people persuade the army and they must battle a horde of people who have been overtaken by the evil desert. This film starred: Michael Moriarty, Scott Bloom & Andrea Marcovicci.THE STUFF was released in 1985 and is among other films in it's genre like Body Melt, Street Trash and The Blob. Out of them three films I have only seen The Blob and In have to admit to liking The Blob. However this film is a disgrace the acting is terrible, the plot is even worse and there is nothing at all to like about this film. I really don't recommend this film as it is a dreary mess.*/***** Very poor.

This was one of those movies I've seen only once and the only time I've seen it was when I was a little kid. At that time, I remembered that I wasn't too scared of this film, but creaped out at the yogurt-type stuff that the characters consumed, followed by them being invested by the product. According to the plot, this is a story about a new delicious, goo that oozes from the Earth and is marketed as a dessert sensation. But, once consumed, the treat starts turning people in zombies. As my parents and I recalled, this was a pretty silly movie, but with pure horror/sci-fi entertainment. It's not a masterpiece, just a funny flick to watch on a very slow day.Grade B-

Industrial spy and former FBI agent David 'Mo' Rutherford is hired by executives of the ice-cream industry to disclose the recipe of the successful yogurt like dessert called the Stuff.Somehow, its consumers become addicted in the product, and competitors want the formula. With Nicole, the head of the Stuff's advertising campaign; and a boy named Jason, who refused to eat it after his family became consumed, Mo tries to prove that the Stuff is a malevolent, possibly sentient, natural substance that is trying to take over the minds of the population of Earth.....So the film is about a pudding that kills people by coming back out of them, okay it's a silly premise, but then it's a silly B-movie which should never ever be taken seriously. But the problem is that it's just not funny enough to stand above other B-movies. There is a random character called Chocolate chip, who turns up every now and again, being loud, and he is there for comic relief, and a great special effect at the end, but not much else. The cast are fine in a 'we know it's a silly movie' and the effects are perfunctory, and it passes the time nice enough, but it just isn't bonkers enough to live up to it's concept.
