Being a Kaniac I may be prejudiced but I don't think so. Had I never heard of Christian Kane before I saw this movie I would have loved it enough to buy the DVD. As it turned out, I was fortunate enough to meet him on the 50-1 tour! 50 to 1 actually tops Seabiscuit and Rocky for an underdog's story. I can't praise this movie enough - it's got heart, humor, hope and heroes! It will have you leaping to your feet in your living room, cheering.
I love this movie! It's too bad that family friendly movies, such as 50 to 1, is NOT put out by major movie studios anymore; except for Disney and Pixar! There's a little violence in the opening bar scene but much less than a Bugs Bunny Cartoon! AND, it's a vital part of the story, Which is a TRUE story of beating the odds! Why wasn't this movie picked up by a major studio! This movie should be seen and adored by millions! Look at the money that could've been made! If a movie isn't full of blood and gore, or magical and fantastical and made for tens of millions of dollars if not more, it's not worth making! The acting is amazing and the horse that was used was great! It's such a feel good, pick yourself up by the bootstraps movie!
During the 2009 Kentucky Derby, long-shot contender Mine That Bird started in last place and wound up winning the race in an amazing, come-from-behind upset. "50 to 1" is the story of the thoroughbred's history-making victory and refers to the betting odds against his winning.The cast, including Christian Kane as Mark Allen, did an amazing job of bringing this wonderful & heart-warming story to life. I've watched it countless times by now and I get caught up in the action every single time. Still one of my absolute favorite movies! :-)
Finally got to watch 50 to 1! Oh my goodness...what an awesome movie! The story was wonderful. Nothing like rooting for the underdog because let's face it, most of us have been there. Christian Kane was fantastic as always. The range he shows in this movie is amazing. He can communicate so many emotions with just one simple look. His comedic timing is spot on. The entire cast was great but, Christian Kane just has this ability to show a wide range of emotions in anything he is in. The chemistry between all the actors was so cohesive. You could truly believe that these folks had been working together with these horses for years. And nothing starts a movie quite like a good old bar fight! Will watch again and again!!
