Oh, Kenneth, Kenneth, Kenneth (Desmond Harrington). What a loser. Hiding in the closet to listen to your neighbor have sex when the new girl (Melissa Sagemiller) is just as lonely as you. Step up there, boy, and get some action.Kenneth decides to try something different. A $10,000 plastic doll. Yep, they are real (On sale at http://ultradolls.com/).Kenneth's relationship with the doll reflects his real feeling for Lisa (Sagemiller), and soon he has enough nerve to make a move. But, as things progress with Lisa, he starts imagining that his doll is jealous and, after a bad night with Lisa, he takes a drastic and horrible step. This is when things gets really weird, and exciting at the same time. He snaps completely and just when we think he is toast, he manages to have heaven intervene and save him. I can't say more than that without giving away the plot, but it certainly was well done.Rip Torn was great as his boss, and Udo Kier played an excellent role.Looking for more from first time writer/director Robert Parigi.

A remake or rather a sequel to the theme of American Psycho but with some kind of a twist that makes it funny, funny strange for sure but also funny ah ah. A shy young man who works as a copyrighter and then an editor in a technical publishing house discovers some kind of very special sex doll on the Internet. It really reveals him to himself but also liberates him towards other people, particularly the secretary he is supposed to work with. But the point is that he establishes a fetishistic relation with the doll and the doll becomes jealous, in other words he becomes jealous of himself with the real girl, hence of the real girl who is taking him away from his doll, his real love. In his attempt to liberate himself he destroys, assassinates the doll. But the real girl finds some kind of an advertisement for the sex doll and she reacts very badly. He is fired for sexual harassment and he becomes crazy. So he manages to abduct the girl and brings her to his apartment where he is going to keep her a prisoner and submit her to some heavy treatment that will embalm her and turn her into a doll of sorts. The manager of the apartment complex becomes suspicious. He intrudes and is assassinated for good and cut up into pieces and disposed of in some garbage can. The body is found and that brings the police down to the apartment complex. But the situation has completely been reversed by some mishap and accidents and the girl is the one who is going to get rid of the young pervert. When the police breaks in the visual situation is clear so they shoot the girl dead and the young man is going to be reintegrated in his job and position as the victim of some kind of sadistic woman. That's where it is funny ah ah. Crime pays and the criminal even gets a premium. Kill your girl friends and establish only steady relations with dolls. They may be tyrannical but at least they will neither deceive you nor disappoint you.Dr Jacques COULARDEAU, University Paris Dauphine, University Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne & University Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines

"Love Object" is one strange movie. The film is about a man named Kenneth (Desmond Harrington, "Ghost Ship" and "Wrong Turn"), who is a lonely copywriter whose dull life basically revolves around work. He has no friends, and no woman in his life. As he becomes more and more lonely, some coworkers show him a postcard of a real-life rubber sex doll. They laugh it off as a joke, but Kenneth is curious. He visits the company's website, and custom orders the 10 thousand dollar Nikki doll, forming it to look similar to a new coworker Lisa (Melissa Sagemiller, "Soul Survivors") who he has his eye on. But his new life with this silicone doll begins to get a little disturbing, as his growing relationship with Lisa begins to interfere with he and "Nikki". He begins to lose his mind, thinking that "Nikki" is stalking him, following him around work, etc. This begins to interfere with his work life, and his boss becomes agitated. But when Lisa discovers about Nikki (after Kenneth mutilated the doll), she calls it off. But Kenneth isn't up for that, and he plans on keeping Lisa forever and ever and ever. This was a surprising little thriller that caught me completely off guard. This film boasts a decent cast, Desmond Harrington pulled off the psychotic torment well, and Melissa Sagemiller is a large step up from her lackluster 2001 horror film "Soul Survivors". The film shifts genres very well. The first half of the movie is like a bizarre, twisted love story between a guy and a rubber doll. But by the beginning of the second half, it is established just how crazy Kenneth has become, obsessing over the doll, treating it as if it were an actual girlfriend. While it may sound funny, it was actually quite bizarre. The doll itself was eerie enough, especially during Kenneth's hallucinations about it attacking him and such. Horror fans who enjoy fast paced, all out gore flicks won't enjoy this so much, you have do be able to tolerate a slow building movie. But in the second act there is surely some horrific torture moments that will please horror fans. The ending of the film was actually pretty clever, I thought it was pretty uniquely done. And no, it isn't a twist ending. It's just the way that the entire finale played out.Overall, "Love Object" is a more dramatic horror/thriller movie, with good acting and an original story. It's no slasher flick by any means if that's what you were expecting. People who enjoy fast, straight to the point gore films may find this a little boring, but if you like a good thriller that has a relatively slow build (but contains a good ending), this is perfect. 7/10.

When I first saw this movie, I couldn't help but think that this was THE greatest movie I have ever seen. Love Object deserves to have a sequel. Although the movie has a couple of disturbing scenes, that didn't distract me from how this good movie was. Love Object is the perfect movie to watch. I also want to say that once you see this movie for the first time, you can't help but watch it over and over again. I am practically moved by how every actor played their parts in a sense of how well the acted. Once this movie is in your thoughts, you can't help but express how you feel about watching it again. Sometimes you would want to get up out your chair and rush to the video store and buy the movie Love Object.
