Years after a horrible accident, a woman still terrified of the Boogeyman checks into a mental facility to get over it, but when someone starts killing off the residents she realizes it's here to prey on her fears and tries to overcome them in hopes of dealing with the demon. This was a highly enjoyable and entertaining slasher. One of the best aspects is the rather great premise that it has where the fact that it uses the clichéd facing-fears gimmick to an advantage. There's plenty of set-ups to make it work, which is where the fun of this one actually comes from where each patient has a therapeutic exercise segment devoted to try and overcome their fear, and there's some greatness to this when it goes onto the kills. These here are exceptionally fun as they're fully encompassing of the fears and actually have the added plus of being expertly designed scenes to exploit a fun set of fears, from being stuck in the dark basement for the one with a fear of the dark to the cockroaches in the food for the germaphobe and another with a cutting problem strapped down while maggots are poured onto them and a knife left in easy reach. The kills overall are really brutal even when not taking advantage of their fears leading to quite a bloody series of scenes here which is just all sorts of awesome with an insanely bloody climax that is one of the greatest parts of the film. This is the highlight of the film, which is a long, really great final chase through the basement of the building in an ultra-creepy showdown that gets a lot right and the length easily makes it work. Due to taking place in the hospital with the closed in hallways, darkened rooms and general layout that provides this one with a stellar location to work with that has a great setting overall here. The killer's mask is really cool-looking as well, going with a really well-hidden cloak and a spectacular-looking demon-mask that stands out as overall, this was a greatly entertaining slasher. This one here didn't have all that many flaws. The main one here is the lame ending this one has. The resolution with the killer and the first few parts of the police are good enough, but then the film decides to tack on the ending from another film verbatim that was completely loathed, and while unexpected and a nice twist, doesn't make much sense and isn't really needed. The last part is that there's a really unnecessary beginning which makes it unclear what's going on. There's flashbacks, dreams and more thrown in which make it hard to understand what's going. As well, the attempts to tie this one into the rest of the franchise aren't all that worthwhile since it's barely even mentioned and could've easily been left-out such is the tenuous connection made here. These here are the film's only real flaws.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Nudity, Graphic Language, a mild sex scene and drug use.

The filmmakers really wanted to tell a story with this one. And to a degree they succeeded. Casting Tobin Bell in a mysterious role is always a good catch too. Unfortunately most of the other actors do not completely live up to the task. Not to mention that the story is pretty weak if you think about it.The death scenes are nicely shot and you'll also have a sex scene inter-cut with a horror scene (which seems to be a favorite for many horror fans). So there are a few nice bits and pieces here and there (make-up is good too, for a small budget movie like that. You can have fun with this, because they did put a lot of effort into it, to make it look good too. Depending on your expectations, you'll either like it or hate it. Especially towards the end, it'll be splitting people/viewers

(Credit IMDb) The script centers on a young woman with a long-term phobia of the bogeyman, who voluntarily checks herself into a mental health facility with the hope of conquering her overwhelming fears. However, much to her horror, she discovers that some things are terrifying on purpose, and confronting her demons was not the best course of action.Boogeyman 2 is a film I've seen twice now, and have managed to enjoy each time, just as much. It's not your typical, low-budget slasher junk; it's actually quite polished for a DTV sequel. It gives us better character development then I've seen in most DTV sequels, and not only that they are likable. Aside from a small couple of mentions this sequel is a complete stand alone, and it is better for it. As I stated in my review for The Boogeyman (2005) I hated it with a passion, so to say I appreciated this one's effort is an understatement. It throws in a surprisingly solid twist at the end, throwing in plenty of suspense for it as well. I didn't see it coming, nor did I expect it, so kudos to the filmmakers for that. Only real complaint is I wish Henry (Matt Cohen) had a better background story as to why he was so screwed up. Solid suspense throughout, good pace, a couple of good scares and you have yourself a better then expected slasher.Performances. Danielle Savre is very solid as the lead. She's likable, vulnerable, but also strong-willed as well. She's the heart of the film, and I was impressed by her poise. Matt Cohen is solid when he's on screen as Henry, but sadly that isn't as much as I'd like. Christine Griffith is good as the chick with issues, but with a heart underneath Michael Graziadei is good, but a little too self centered for my liking. Renée O'Connor has a small part, and did very well with what she had to do. Tobin Bell's presence alone is awesome itself, and he took what could have been a one-dimensional part, and added some much needed layers to it.Bottom line. Far from original, but I enjoyed myself very much with it. It's suspenseful, well made, and even somewhat stylish. Don't be put off by the title, it's a good slasher. Recommended7/10

As young children Laura and Henry Porter witness the bloody murder of their parents at the hands of a faceless, hooded psychopath.Years later they remain highly disturbed, but Henry has recovered far more than his sister due to a stint in a mental hospital under the care of a respected psychiatric doctor named Dr Mitchell Allen. When Henry gets the opportunity to work thousands of miles away, his sister Laura decides that she too must finally confront her demons and voluntarily commits herself into the same facility.Soon her fellow patients begin to die..."Boogeyman 2" is the sequel that is almost entirely better than its laughably tame predecessor. There is a decent amount of blood and gore and the acting is not bad with "Saw" star Tobin Bell having a relatively small role. The film relies on slasher clichés,there are some huge lapses in logic and the ending is hysterically stupid.Still I rather enjoyed this suitably gory teen slasher.6 out of 10.
