The Flyboys (2008)

This is an impressive and mature film with few flaws... but there are flaws. For example, Kyle starts out as a smart and self-sufficient kid. About 30 minutes in he loses it and becomes average. His precocious wisdom and talent comes back, but the script needed that lapse to create the subsequent story. That was a shame. The young actors playing the two principle boys were breathtaking. Overall, this script is great, but I'd be willing to wager that the stupidities I noticed were put there by the producers or the studio execs who had no confidence in the original script. Fortunately, something good was left after their dissection... a rare event.

Didn't expect a lot - after watching movies for many years and using IMDb for the last 5 years plus - this is the first movie I felt compelled to comment on! Watchit!!! The plot was engaging without being too complicated for younger children. There was enough action to make it appeal to my 11 year old son and my 40-something year old husband! The characters were really well developed and we all felt a real affinity to all the mains! There were tears and laughter from all of us, with some real nail biting moments in the 1st 1/2 hour-it was a complete gem and to discover that it was an independent on a low budget was a real surprise-give this a view you will not regret it!! ;o)

I saw this film last year at a film festival in Livermore CA and I would like to show it to my grandchildren (with proper guidance about the fight scenes). How do I acquire a copy or a download? I brought my husband to see it since he has a non-commercial pilot's license. We very seldom go to the theater and he loved the film. I hope that others would be able to enjoy this adventure flick. There really are people out there that will support a film without graphic sex. Everyone can remember a time in their youth that they unwittingly ended up in a pickle. This is a pretty good film for youth, especially boys. If anyone knows if this film is going to be picked up in the future, let me know.

I saw this movie last night at the Daytona Beach Film Festival. I join with the scores of previous folks who are shocked that the Hollywood honchos passed on distributing this great movie! All I can really say is--it's their loss! This film was fun for all ages in attendance. The audience laughed, they cheered and they cried. I loved everything about it. The characters/actors, the plot, the stunts, everything! I won't say there weren't a few typical predictable lines or plot points but all in all it really was better than any movie i've seen in a long time.If you have the opportunity to see this film, jump on it...you won't regret it!
