After watching (and regretting) several days of cringe-worthy or boring sci-fi movies on Netflix I came across this gem. Like my roommates, i ignored it at first because of the 1-star ratings. The trailer was lackluster and didn't or couldn't really show us what it is or what to expect; Even the cheesy title makes it sound more sci-fi than it should be. IMO, this is just as good as "American Sniper" and "Saving Private Ryan". And yes it does have SHADES of "Starship Troopers" but the sci- fi elements are only a PART, not the whole. Yes there are aliens and a little alien tech, but their presence does not dominate the plot at all; the aliens are almost a macguffin. This is a movie about a military squad assigned to a remote outpost, followed by a documentary film crew. THANKFULLY, the movie is NOT fully shot in found-footage/first person style. It seamlessly & masterfully switches between the two styles, and NOT jarringly at all - the vast majority of the film is in the traditional style). It's about the very human characters and their experiences at this time. Very intelligent dialogue, characters, and story; wonderful special effects (although it IS a military/war film, so there is some realistic blood and gore); a very under-rated film that deserved much much more than it has received.

This movie is very underrated.I don't know what the big fuss is about. It's refreshing to see a film that doesn't have the typical Hollywood BS and overuse crazy special effects. The actors were amazing, the story line actually made sense, and cinematography was really good for a low budget film. The battles felt realistic and weren't over exaggerated. I agree with other reviews, it does remind me of District 9. However, they should've stuck with the title Outpost 37. Sounds way better. All in all, I would defiantly recommend to give this movie a shot. Plus I really hope they come out with a part 2!

I have just watched this movie (May 2016) for the first time, and I was thoroughly impressed. Reading the reviews revealed that it was a low budget flick. This is something that the movie kept well to itself. The movie is tautly directed, and the 'interview' portions are brief and add depth to the storyline. This movie, even on a very, very, bad day, does not deserve a rating under 6.5.It is on the lines of District 9, and truly deserves a commendation. There are little sfx, but you definitely do not miss those. Despite being just a 90 minute movie with several characters, most of the important ones are well fleshed out.Definitely worth a dekko!PS: Watch out for hte post credits scene!!

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I watched this movie fully expecting it to be what I consider a "stupid disaster movie." I have a fondness for those, from the cheesy acting to the terrible graphics. It amuses me. However, this movie was far from that. It was well acted and the graphics were pretty great. I should also mention I generally dislike combat documentary films, but this story drew me in, and I enjoyed it a lot. By the end I found myself hoping there would be a sequel, just to see what happens next. The story was fairly believable and I enjoyed the perspective. It probably could use a bit more depth and back-story, but overall it's worth your time. I would definitely suggest that you watch it. :)
