It was really interesting for me to see how Samuel Jackson would act in the role of a bum and not just an ordinary one, but a guy who is beyond the mental stability. His acting was amazing! The way he yield at people with his all mighty voice, the way he confronted with them is just an unforgettable segment. The plot of the movie was also really interesting, it was a breeze of a philosophy overview about the way people should live and how they should concentrate themselves only on the truth and fight for it until the end. A crazy guy, who was called The Caveman, and who was treated as an object and it was a swamp of jokes and fun all the time, because of his clothes and attitude, proved to the world that we should only follow our only way which was written by our own hearts. All of the other supporting actors did their job good, but as I said before, Jackson stole the show for a thousand time, again. I would really recommend this movie if you are in the mood of seeing something special, that will really touch you in the emotional way, to see how a musical genius, ho can be really connected to Bach or another legendary composer, talking to himself, and to his wife, who only rides on his boats of dreams, defines the proportion of how we should breath our own air.

Always enjoy every film that Samuel L. Jackson,(Romulus Ledbetter) has performed and in this film he sort of plays a crazy way out character who is homeless and lives in a cave, but not Central Park N Y. You will see Romulus wandering in the streets of New York picking through the garbage and cursing at a man in the tower of the Chrysler Building who he believes is after him to do him harm. Romulus finds a friend of his up in a tree frozen to death and turns his attention to David Leppenraub, (Colin Feore) who had hired a photographer to take pictures while his friend was being tortured. Romulus decides to become a detective and tries to solve this case but he has a daughter on the NYC police force who helps her father once in a while and a wife who has given up on poor Romulus. There is one scene where Romulus decides to clean himself up and shave and get a decent pair of clothes and show people what a great pianist he is and a former student from the Julliard School of Music. Romulus does get into the sack with David's Leppenraub wife and has some very steamy love scenes. Great entertaining film, enjoy.

Sam J. (jees! what an actor), one more time simply becomes the character the tale requires. Where the "bleep" are all his awards? Nevermind ...It's a murder mystery. No not that kind. The sleuth here is mental case who lives in a dome of rocks in a park. Except he's a musical genius who is in constant battle with some kind of mind controlling rays from a Capitalist Wizard named Inversol (or something like that) abiding in an ivory tower over looking the city. Wait, wait ... it's about his impossible relationship with his daughter. No, wait ... it's about this mental being the one to figure out the "who dunnit". Except he isn't mental, is he? Society is mental or is it what passes for society? Or not.And it's about art using the human psyche as its canvas and when art wanders over a cliff. Can you imagine an actor the caliber of Samuel Jackson reading this script and nodding? It's as wacky as its title. But watch him do it, watch him bring Romulus Ledbetter to life. The movie would have been decent with another talented actor in the lead but SJ set the character on fire and set it in concrete. The film's problem? Samuel Jackson's performance elevated the bar to a level the rest of the movie didn't see coming. So while the movie is better than it should have been, it seems to miss its bullseye at the same time. With just a bit of tweaking, anticipating the Romulus Ledbetter SJ would create, "The Caveman's Valentine" would have found itself sharing shelf space with genuine classics.Absolutely ... WOW!

How can he prove this though? His own daughter who is a police officer and the authorities do not believe someone they all think is insane.
