I like Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Colin Firth and Uma Thurman. When I found "The Accidental Husband" for $3.99, I figured it worth a shot. I was so wrong. This is just a mess. A romantic comedy should be funny and romantic. This film is neither. It also makes no sense. What a disappointment.

I am still watching this movie at the part when Richard lets her be and the church - fire by candle story and I was like omg who would think about that lol. No explanation to guests that was awesome. And on top of that her prince charming is a fireman so as he comes to rescue her i guess he realizes she is his. I have to disagree with most of the reviewers that this is a good romantic movie.. Its unrealistic because you cannot think that you have a guy as understanding as Richard and a lady so down to earth like Emma. Rather most people would expect the rich guy to marry the rich girl and the fireman to marry the latina shop assistant.. Too bad I guess! I liked the fact that she chose Carl, he did set out to bring her down but thats cool coz it taught her the lesson she needed. He was everything she is not and sometimes that is what you need in life, Richard on the other hand was like a brother, kind , understanding and concerned also they were similar in characters, whereas Carl brought out another side of her which made her happy. Nobody is perfect right so is the movie but it has a nice story... It is about adults who have crossed paths and changed each others lives... Nothing wrong with that. And I shall be going ahead to the rest of the movie 10 mins!

Who cares if this movie is good or bad? Jeffrey Dean Morgan looks like a damn angel in this movie. But since not everyone picks out a movie based on the presence of handsome actors, this is what I think of the rest of the movie. I think the plot of 'The accidental husband' is actually quite original and funny. The whole first hate, then love idea of course may be a bit cliché, but still, it is not a bad plot. The thing that bothered me most in this movie is that everything seemed a bit rushed. 'Dr love' finds out about a 'glitch', looks for Sulllivan, tries to explain the glitch to him and fails miserably. After getting wasted and waking up in his bed, she just continues her busy life. When she sees him again, he suddenly completely understands the problem/situation and they become friends like nothing's wrong. In my opinion, they should have gotten to know each other way better before they could 'grow on each other'. In the bar, Sullivan says: 'My girlfriend loves your show'. Then, they never speak of his 'girlfriend' again, even when the whole romantic situation is going on, until they get into a fight. During the movie, Emma is with Richard, then runs away from him, goes back, runs away, goes back, etc. There is just to much, to fast... Plus, Patrick's bald friend was beyond annoying and the female singer at the party gave me permanent ear damage. Now, when I'm reading all the reviews out here (uncluding my own) I would conclude: This movie is not worth watching. But that's not true! It might not be an excellent movie, but is still very lovely. It is romantic, easy, a little silly and a perfect movie to watch on a lazy Sunday evening. The casting is good, the storyline is simple and sweet and I would watch it again.

Griffin Dunne's 'An Accidental Husband' hardly has anything new to offer. It's a typical Hollywwod romantic comedy (typically set in New York), and a very flawed one. The story is silly and it felt rushed and every single turn is predictable. The romance between Emma and Patrick is so poorly developed that it's sometimes hard to believe them as a real couple (that would last long together). One minute he's trying to win back his ex-fiancée who recently broke it off with him and the next he's all of a sudden in love with Emma. Ditto for Emma who only seems to have fallen for Patrick because he's less 'safe'. Pretty much all the characters are badly underdeveloped. The dialogues lack wit. The execution is average. What had attracted me to 'An Accidental Husband' was the unusual casting of Colin Firth, Uma Thurman and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Generally, I tend to like romantic comedies with a refreshing cast (rather than seeing the same actors in the same kind of movie all the time). However, the actors are mostly let down by the poor writing. Ditto for the supporting cast. With a romance that is unbelievable, a story that lacks spark and jokes that fall flat, it's hard to make a rom-com work. That's the case with the 'The Accidental Husband'. Perhaps this movie was made by accident.
