5ive Girls (2007)

5ive years after the strange and bloody disappearance of teenager Elisabeth at St. Mark's Catholic School for Girls, 5ive delinquent students—Alex (Jennifer Miller), Mara (Jordan Madley), Cecilia (Terra Vnesa), Leah (Barbara Mamabolo) and Connie (Tasha Quintas)—arrive at the establishment for some corrective education. Locked in, the girls—who all seem to possess supernatural powers—begin to notice sinister occurrences, and decide to investigate, ultimately discovering a plot by their headmistress Miss Pearce (Amy Lalonde) to trade their souls for that of Elisabeth, her sister, who was taken by the ancient demon Legion.Just 5ive minutes into 5ive Girls and it was clear to me what sort of film this was going to be: a dumb piece of mainstream horror-lite aimed predominantly at a teenage audience. For the girls, there are 5ive cool, attractive, spunky characters with whom they can identify, while the guys get to drool over 5ive pretty actresses in their early 20enties dressed as Catholic schoolgirls. The film delivers very little in the way of genuine scares or decent gore, but does offer plenty of naff CGI effects and frequent inappropriate use of rock music, plus quite a few chances to ogle the young ladies: all 5ive wear knee high socks and thigh length skirts, Jennifer Miller bares some side boob, gets her bottom spanked with a ruler, and has a girl-on-girl kiss with Madley, while a topless Tasha Quintas gives viewers an eyeful while trying to drown Barbara Mamabolo in the bath.Lending a modicum of star power to this cheesy Satanic nonsense is the unmistakable Ron Perlman (Hell Boy) as priest Father Drake, who winds up impaled by several crucifixes (it might have been 5ive, but I wasn't counting).

in the beginning i thought this movie is going to be just another ghost story but soon i found out that this movie has something extra special in it. the actors have done a GREAT job. i didn't even feel them as "acting" because it was looking so natural.(well in the, beating with the ruler scene the make up artist should have applied more blusher to Alex to show she's really in huge pain). the actresses chosen for the characters Mara & head mistress are perfect(well though jordan madley didn't have the look of a teenager she's good for the rough, tough, bad girl character). normally nudity is there in almost every horror movie & most of the time its there very unnecessarily but in this movie nudity is used very efficiently(no unnecessary nudity scenes)it was there only when its really needed. after watching this movie i became a HUUUGE fan of jordan madley.her character made me glued to the movie(i had a slight hint that she'll somehow win the battle against the ghost because she's the tough girl among all of them.) the writer has done a very good job in adding humor to the dialogs in a very natural way(its not an easy task to add horror,thrills & humor at the same time & succeed in it).i was laughing a lot for some scenes & dialogs of Cecilia's as well as mara's.well this movie didn't scare me off much but why i like this movie is because it looked soo natural & the sweetness of teenage life is shown very nicely(their dialogs and their reactions on the things happening around them). (the Pentagram scene should have made with much thrills because i didn't find it scary)well finally i say that like all the other 5ive girls fans i too expecting a squeal for this movie where there is alex & mara.

OK so the story was OK. But it was kinda corny.the only thing that was awesome bout the movies were the girls. Thats's really the only reason i got the movie. So if you wanna see a movie withtwo hot girls then watch this movie. Oh and two top it all off the two hotgirls kiss. But other than that the movie was just OK. So watch this movie and see what i am talking bout. but yea there is nothing much really more to write. just watch this movie. you have to get past the kinda corny parts but it is all worth it. And i mean really worth it.

This was not the worst I have ever seen, but not good. The character development was very poor like they wanted to but decided half way to completely abandon that, they abandon an explanation of the plot, the ending is not definitive. The lesbianism overtones were unnecessary and they did not even bother to develop it well, just a bad movie. I would have loved to see more on the original person, the aftermath, the priest and his story, maybe more on the history of the players. A ending of some sort would have been nice. The only saving grace is the acting, I think the acting was done well and that is why i gave this a 3 as opposed to a 1 or 2, the actors did the best they could with what they had to work with, perhaps the editing played a negative role.
