I really love musicals, and this is one of my favorites. Of course it's silly and nonsensical, but who cares! I watch my DVD of this musical when I'm depressed and need a lift. Pure escapism! I've also seen it on stage three times, and I have loved it every time. There are some differences between the stage production and the movie, but both are very entertaining. This production is staged like a 60's show, and that just adds to the fun.Donny Osmond makes a great Joseph, and the other actors do a good job too. Nice!

I swear to god, I have never in me life ever seen this musical film before. I was only a toddler in 1999 and no one ever mentioned this to me until back in 2013, I was in Lourdes and we were singing away at the songs. Although I hadn't a clue how to sing the lyrics as I haven't heard of the musical before. At the age of 21 in the present, I decided to give this one a definite watch!By jingo, I was in for a brilliant ride of the songs. Even though there was so many to sing away at, I very much enjoyed throughout! The songs were catchy, Donny Osmond was attractive and of course, the dancing was literally just amazing! They must've done a lot of practices to get all the moves right! I honestly wish they were able to put this on cinemas instead of being straight onto video because it just is so Fantastic that everyone in the whole world would watch it! I don't think in the future that another movie adaption would be successful as this, it would honestly ruin t it! I honestly would love to give this more than a 10, I have no other words to describe it, it is specular!

"Joseph" is probably Andrew Lloyd Webber's best show, because it's intentionally derivative, and everything else he's written has been unintentionally derivative. Take one calypso number, one country number, one French-bistro number, etc., et al., and you've got a hit! Throw in an astonishingly illiterate script ("Famine's hand will stalk the land" -- how's that for a mixed metaphor?), and you've got a mega-hit.I did, to my surprise, like Donny Osmond in "Joseph." Ain't enough. The overwhelming unoriginality, tedious score and 2d-grade libretto easily make it one of the worst musicals ever.As Tim Rice candidly stated in an interview, "The best line in the show was the list of the colours in Joseph's coat. And I didn't even write that."

When it comes to musicals, I am more of a RENT kind of guy and a FIDDLER ON THE ROOF type of fella. However, this movie DELIVERED THE GOODS. I had always thought this was a 1970s Donny Osmand movie based on how the cover looks. I was WRONG! It is a 1999 movie and is all MUSIC! I liked the way it was based on the story of Joseph and his brothers. The NARRATOR delivered the goods full throttle as well. The songs were catchy and they ELVIS singer was a lot of fun to watch. The movie was very much MUSICAL-ISH and "feel good" ish. However, it was NOT TOO HOKEY where you wanted to just TURN IT OFF. I am glad this movie was suggested to me and I have a great memory of watching it.
