Ernest Scared Stupid (1991)

Not the most adventurous but nothing bad either. It is pretty silly and unimaginative. It is a children's film but it is quite fun for an adult. Ernest is the only memorable character, all the others are instantly forgettable. He's not even the best children's entertainment character in movies, Pee-Wee is my favourite!

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that the Ernest films aren't exactly Oscar-caliber movies... okay, they aren't even good movies by most peoples standards. BUT, the Ernest P. Worrell movies sure are fun, something that you can just let go and laugh at.Ernest Scared Stupid is my favorite of these movies. It may be just because I used to watch it all the time when I was like 12 years old, but either way, I still like it. Right from the credits you can tell it is going to be hilarious. The troll makeup and costumes are very well done for an Ernest movie, and it keeps you entertained all the way through. I'm 20 years old and I can still watch this one until the very end. The real question is, when is somebody going to get off of their ass and put the late, great Jim Varney's entire Ernest collection out on DVD?We're waiting... I know I'm not alone here... right?

Ernest P Worrell is one of the many beloved characters of my childhood.The Guy just made me laugh and created many good comedy moments that I like so much.Ernest Scared Stupid is both funny and scary while it is still a family film there are moments that might be too much for children.However with the comedy that is strong in this film, there are moments that you will be replaying over and over that still remain as funny as they did back then. Ernest just has that comedy timing that knows when it works.Plus the intro for Ernest Scared Stupid with Ernest reacting to classic horror film scenes just set the mood for the film along with a original story that will make you never look at a film like this ever again.Mixing comedy and scary films is always risking but lucky this film does a good job with that. It has both humor, scary to it a long with emotion. Ernest Scared Stupid just proof how you're suppose to make something like this just work while there are moments in the films that might be not be wise to let younger eyes see it the film is just one that the family will enjoyI give Ernest Scared Stupid an 8 out of 10

When I first saw this film, I didn't think much of it at first. Then again, it is a Halloween movie starring Ernest P. Worrell. It was also interesting to find out a few years ago that part of the movie was filmed in Cincinnati, Ohio.Definitely stranger than most other Ernest movies, as it deals with the supernatural. Monsters that torture the children and their parents turning them into decorations. It is only Ernest that can save them. It would seem no one has hope, but Ernest saves the day and the children and their parents.If a fan of Ernest, you will love this film. Another Ernest holiday film of the series that is somewhat similar is "Ernest Saves Christmas."
