The Wailer (2006)

I had no idea what I was going to get when I rented LA LLORONA or THE WAILER in English. It deals with a Mexican legend that I've heard very little of, about a woman who drowns her two children in order to have the love of the man she wants. After being rejected by this man, she kills herself. Fast forward in the movie and we have an assortment of horror movie clichés that would be worth mentioning to a film class in order to avoid them! You have the sexy teens looking for a good time, going to a lonely cabin in the woods of Jalisco, in the middle of nowhere, the mandatory bad acting, the explicit (albeit, cheap looking) gore and your mandatory tit scene. In all honesty, the premise of this so called "film" holds promise. It could've been a decent horror movie in the hands of a more skilled director, but this is strictly "amateur" hour. Rent (DON'T BUY!) only in interested in seeing classic horror movie clichés ALL in one movie!

First of all,this movie is pretty much boring.The first part was great telling the erie stage of how the wailer become what it is known as "la llorona".I mean this movie had me going until the travelers cut into the scene and bored me for one hour.You don't get to see la llororna for only 15 to 20 minutes top,I was falling asleep waiting for some kind of creepy,scary moment,but it fail completely..and i believe la llorona took place in the 18th century in Mexico.There was some good scene,the bar with the locals and the few brief moment we look at the legend..it was a waste of one hour and time and i believe there is a "wailer 2"..hopefully they gave more great moment with the legend that scare the children of Mexico for a long time.

This film was terrible. The acting, the music, just everything about it was so lame. The actors sucked and the plot line sucked and the ending sucked. It was like a porn movie without the porn. Just lame plot lines,dialogue and acting. I do not recommend this movie to anyone. Me and my friend rented this movie from the RedBox (which I do not even know why RedBox would choose this awful movie for it's selections) and laughed the whole way through, simply because it was so stupid! This was a waste of $1.07 and I will tell everyone to not waste their time on this retarded excuse for a movie. The director must have been drunk while directing this film and picking the cast. The only good actress was the one who was left at the end, and she was only good enough to be on a cheap soap opera. Do not waste your time.

I rented this through the red box machines and thankfully it was a free rental..I haven't watched something this bad since Murder Set Pieces... To begin, the lighting and sounded was horrible. In and out, up and down..slow through the whole beginning, the horror didn't start until way later and when it did, it was very amateur. I hate mentioning people's acting abilities because I know its hard, but this was just not good..overly dramatic, poor dialogue and script..bad makeup for the attacks/deaths...cheesy blacked out windows that no one could escape through..that looked like they had black sheets on the outside of the windows... If your going to make a movie even low budget, it can look way better than this visually..and in every other imaginable way...don't bother with this one if you enjoy good quality horror flicks.
