Transit (2012)

5.7 rating as I write this. Really? This film was AWFUL, an exemplar of bad film making. Characters that make no sense. Criminals smart enough to heist millions of dollars from a security truck apparently left their brains behind. Suburban mum turns in to Rambona, with an everlasting gun clip in her AK47 that she is mostly firing into the sky. Ex-con dad is sprinting around with a bullet wound in his thigh, a severed finger and a machete slash to save the day and reunite his family. A cop is run down and killed by the loudest car in America as he apparently never heard it coming because his back was turned to it. Cliché after cliché, bad film making at it's finest, AVOID.

Transit is an action, driving movie where weak scripts and acting are useless and the only thing good is the location.A family is in ruins after the father has been in jail due to fraud. In their travels a group of dumb ineffective criminals decide to hide their money with their camping gear. After this the movie tries to go Transporter on our minds. High octane car chases ensue and of course the movie tries to do it's thing or lack there of. In a way if it any different this movie would've made a decent start a strong ending but unfortunately it takes a massive acting and script plunge.What's wrong with the acting and scripting? How about a sadistic car driver turned worried Samaritan. A villain who stays in "I'm a villain" mode throughout but somehow pulls this off like lead being a taco. Then a spat between the wife and husband is a whisper fight. Emoting is also nonexistent throughout since the villains also whisper aside from the busty female villain who is actually the only decent actor.Finally we come to the biggest flaw the action scenes. Wanna here the same chords played during an action scene neither do I but apparently the editor does. How about an "extreme" U-turn that has NOTHING of noteworthy value. My favorite however is the lack of an alligator eating anyone. A gun fight which somehow a mom turns into a sharpshooter. Again this movie kills everything it tries to do and then some.Transit is the worst action movie in while no doubt there.

The best thing about Transit is that it is realistically photographed in the Louisiana bayou country. I thoroughly expected someone to get eaten by one of the alligators or poisoned by one of the swamp dwelling snakes.The Sidwell family is going on a camping trip to mend some fences. Dad played by Jim Cavaziel has just been released from federal prison for some white collar fraud and he's trying to get to know wife Elizabeth Rohm and kids Jake Cherry and Sterling Knight.But while they're trying to get the family unit functioning, a gang led by Harold Frain has committed a 4 million dollar armored car heist and to elude the police blockade put the loot in the Sidwell's wagon. The rest of the film is the Sidwell family being terrorized by the crooks who want their loot which for a while the family does not they have. When they find out, Rohm suspects the worst about Cavaziel.Nothing terribly special about Transit, not the greatest film I ever saw, but it hardly rates some of the other venomous reviews I read.

The camping trip was meant to reunite the Sidwell family. When they are hunted and terrorized by violent bank robbers, their very survival will depend on working together. What did I think? I threw this in my player not expecting much. Then my alarm went off and I woke up to an intense thriller with all the fat trimmed off. Sometimes you want a simple, straightforward approach to a film with no complications or unnecessary twists. When you're in that mood...put this one in your player.
