Conversations with God (2006)

I'm open to all kinds of teaching about life values, positivity, and similar. But I only made it about twenty minutes through this movie. I turned it off when he said that financial wealth and spirituality are basically one and the same. Not only is that an insult to poor people today, but by this measure almost every religious leader in human history must not have been spiritual after all.The man preaches a very similar message to televangelists, except he specifically says that he deserves the money, because his message makes people feel good."Imagine a world where the people who gave you the most spiritual message received the most money", he oozes to an adoring congregation and their wallets.The whole movie seems nothing more than a marketing vehicle to sell ⎯ and emphasis on the 'sell' ⎯ his message, in its various formats. Other than the selling his message is nothing new. It's 'the universe loves you' and 'you should love yourself more and think about your own desires more'.As a movie the whole thing is pretty hokey. The acting is unconvincing, the characters are stereotypes, and the script is riddled with clichés.I give it one star solely for his introductory line, which was actually very good: "Everything we do is either motivated by love or by fear". If only that message had been further explored, instead of the rapid sidestep into patronizing false humility and money-grabbing.

I watched this on my satellite TV's VOD and thank goodness it cost just under a dollar. I was expecting more from supposedly an inspirational story and instead got a third-rate attempt at a movie.I love stories in which down-and-out people work there way out of their situation, but this one was just weird. The movie was disjointed and confusing and oftentimes, it just left me with more questions, especially about what Walsch's history was like. I believe there are significant omissions from the film, including about his troubles with women and such.I'm generally against Christianity and well, this film got me no closer to that awful religion. Save yourself 1.5 hours of your life and skip this turkey.

This movie does play out like an after school special. It's not a badly produced movie, as some have suggested, but it truly is just an infomercial for Walsch's books. There are so many logical inconsistencies in Walsch's theology that there is no room to write them here. Xenos.com has an excellent review of Walsch's work. (I am not affiliated with Xenos - I just know how to research using the internet and google.)Walsch's god is his own inner voice - which makes Walsch his own god.At one point in the movie he suggests that either he is hearing from God or he is crazy. Yep, - he's crazy.Normal people, when faced with adversity, seek help from others - they don't abandon their families and live in a tent in the park. That's a big red flag that he's not normal. He wasn't hiding from the law or the mafia - so to choose that path shows he might be just as crazy as the other homeless people who have mental illness causing them to shun those who could help them.And if he is not crazy, then he is worse - he's a huckster out to make a buck. If you honestly want to hear from God, try a Bible study with a good group of people and have some discussions. A wee amount of research into what God says in the Bible will show you the folly of Walsch's teachings.For those who shun the God of the Bible, Walsh may be right up your alley.

It's about life and connection with God. It's real because it's happen if you are careful at God signs. They are everywhere. The best idea, the best film. Now I intend to read the book. See the film and change your life for good. A man without any hope after a car crash can't hire nowhere, no firm, no company hire him, because he has broken neck and he is overcalificated. He reach in the street where find friends and help. He find the way to communicate with God, he see the signs of God, he talk with God, and listen what God tell him. He write what God tell him, he write a book about what it's happening with him become a successfully writer. Film it's made after real events, after real experiences. I just wait to read the book. MUST SEE THIS FILM!
