The Orphan Killer is a tour de force murder flick that defies classification. It goes far beyond current trends in gore and breaks open a new suffering genre of horror. Marcus Miller is a serial murderer hellbent on teaching his estranged sister Audrey what it means to have family loyalty. His lessons are taught in massive doses of vulgar and unimaginable pain. Throughout her brutal torture we learn that Marcus is not the only Miller with Killer in the bloodline as Audrey proves to be a formidable adversary.

Movies like Prom night, and Friday the 13th were bad in the 70's because film, and lighting were hard to come by. This movie is just bad because they are trying so hard to look like a slasher from the 70's. The laurels all over the poster should mean that there is some great acting, or even just excellence in sound, or cinematography. The laurels lie as they tend to do these days only because every run down old movie house can give out an award with laurels on it , and it makes people think that there is quality associated to the work. This movie is a waste of time for anything more than a college level school project. You will not enjoy this even if you do want to.

I'm not one to write reviews all the time but after seeing all the hatred spewing forth about what I feel is a truly brilliant movie I had to speak up. I consider this to be the most amazing horror films I've seen in YEARS. As a child of the 80's I grew up watching Jason, Michael & Freddy and to me Marcus Miller is a true equal...& honestly as far as I'm concerned surpasses them. Matt Farnsworth has created a true original slasher icon for the modern age. It's raw, gritty, bloody & violent...what else could you ask for? Diane Foster's acting is truly amazing and she's completely hot as well. The scene in the boiler room with her & Marcus is Oscar-worthy...you can just feel the pain she's going through. & what can I say about Marcus Miller? He has no feelings & no remorse. When he goes in for the kill you know to expect something truly brutal & savage. There is also a complete plot despite what some reviews have said but I'm listing no spoilers...you should totally disregard the negative reviews...watch it and decide for yourself. But I highly recommend it...a true masterpiece of the modern horror genre.

I need to waste as little time on this review as possible since the film wasted 90 odd minutes of my life that I can't get back. This is insulting, dumb, devoid of any suspense with bargain basement gore effects. I really don't understand the hype surrounding it, which was the only reason I decided to check it out in the first place.Every performance is way below par, we're talking porn level performances here folks. The backstory is trite and nonsensical, and the piece de resistance is the "SCORE"A death metal onslaught that is lacking in any feeling, nuance or subtlety . It becomes an assault of the senses and not in a good way.The other tip for the film-makers. If you're going to include obvious stock footage in your film (we've all done it) at least use footage that's the same aspect ratio or size it up accordingly. Sheesh!

I found the story line very interesting. In this day of making horror movies it is hard to find a plot that hasn't been used time and time again but The Orphan Killer found their own story line and they show you how the killer came to be the person he is. For a movie that did not come from a big budget film company i thought the producers did a good job making the movie. The plot is not way out there with phantom killers that can't be stopped or monsters from our closets its a story line that could really happen and to me that makes the characters more interesting to watch.I'm sure if this film can get out to the public more and with some major film company's backing this could turn into a new horror franchise.
