Last Ounce of Courage (2012)

I know lots of Christians and they really don't seem this dumb or confused about how logic or the world works. This movie is insulting not just to all other beliefs and non-beliefs but it is insulting to Christians by painting them all as drooling morons who don't understand how laws, lawyers, wars, teenagers, plays, politics, or the government works. Fine it is a movie and it isn't suppose to represent reality but if that is the case this movie has the exact same amount of truth and facts in it as Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles, but it is somehow less entertaining than any of those movies. The movie actually probably deserves 1 star, but in this case I am rewarding this movie for its production value being better than the average Christian movie. Some of the acting was competent and the cinematography seems competent. Now if the Christians can find someone that can write a decent story they may make a movie that will appeal to people that don't even believe in the magical sky daddy.

As a classroom teacher this story really touched me. It is a great family film for the entire family! I thought it was heartwarming and very surprised by negative reviews. It really makes you feel inspired and very thankful for all the little things we all take for granted. I definitely think it is a film worth watching. On NETFLIX it got one hundred percent positive reviews! I just sat there after the movie reflecting on a lot of things and couldn't help but shed a few tears and have an amazing big smile. Give the movie a shot, watch the entire movie and I don't think you will be disappointed! It is not corny like other family movies it is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I found this movie I was a little Apprehensive unsure of its content but it turned out to be a amazing inspiring movie that touched my spirit, heart and mind and brought to thought A Talk by President Thomas S Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which he gave to the brethren of the Church in which he described his first Sunday at boot camp. " I shall ever remember when Sunday rolled around after the first week. We received welcome news from the chief petty officer. Standing at attention on the drill ground in a brisk California breeze, we heard his command: "Today everybody goes to church—everybody, that is, except for me. I am going to relax!" Then he shouted, "All of you Catholics, you meet in Camp Decatur—and don't come back until three o'clock. Forward, march!" A rather sizeable contingent moved out. Then he barked out his next command: "Those of you who are Jewish, you meet in Camp Henry—and don't come back until three o'clock. Forward, march!" A somewhat smaller contingent marched out. Then he said, "The rest of you Protestants, you meet in the theaters at Camp Farragut—and don't come back until three o'clock. Forward, march!"Instantly there flashed through my mind the thought, "Monson, you are not a Catholic; you are not a Jew; you are not a Protestant. You are a Mormon, so you just stand here!" I can assure you that I felt completely alone. Courageous and determined, yes—but alone.And then I heard the sweetest words I ever heard that chief petty officer utter. He looked in my direction and asked, "And just what do you guys call yourselves?" Until that very moment I had not realized that anyone was standing beside me or behind me on the drill ground. Almost in unison, each of us replied, "Mormons!" It is difficult to describe the joy that filled my heart as I turned around and saw a handful of other sailors.The chief petty officer scratched his head in an expression of puzzlement but finally said, "Well, you guys go find somewhere to meet. And don't come back until three o'clock. Forward, march!"As we marched away, I thought of the words of a rhyme I had learned in Primary years before:Dare to be a Mormon; Dare to stand alone. Dare to have a purpose firm; Dare to make it known."

The movie has a strong message that someone may mistake as a promotion of a particular religion, or of Christmas. The underlying message is that of the freedom that we have in this country to say and do as we choose, as long as no one is physically hurt. It is a message that we, the free people must stand up for what this country was founded on.The support of the military and the men and women who give their lives for the protection of our nation, our people, and our children are a fine part of this film. I can't say the acting was top notch, but it was very good. This is a movie that every America loving, God fearing family should see.
