Saw that this film had a very healthy 6.5 rating on IMDb and so sat down to watch it at home with great expectations. This is a very, very bad film and does not deserve a rating anything like the one it has.It has obviously been hyped up by the Director's wife's cousin, the Producer's son's baseball team and the Best Boy's pet spaniel. A plot so convoluted as to be virtually incomprehensible, feeble acting and a script you wouldn't use to wallpaper your toilet await the unsuspecting viewer. This was apparently David Carradine's last film and the poor man must be spinning in his grave to have left this dross as his final legacy to the world or maybe he did it on purpose as his ultimate two-fingered gesture to the rest of us.My advice is that when you read the reviews of this film, you concentrate on the ones with a rating similar to mine and ignore the sycophantic ramblings of the camp followers.I managed about half an hour before I switched it off and darned a pair of socks which was infinitely preferable.

What a waste of time, money and resources. Gave it a go because of Norman Reedus, but even he is terrible. Tommy Wiseau put on an acting and directing masterclass in The Room when compared to this.A narrated explanation of events at the beginning is an excuse for a lack of storytelling ability and I genuinely paused to check if it was a History Channel reenactment documentary before proceeding. The male violence towards female characters was deplorable as was the passive acceptance by those characters; confusing and disturbing.Woman wants to leave, gets choked out and the other people at the house start talking about the ladies liking the rough stuff? Poor at best. This is the worst movie I have seen in a long time and I watched Grown Ups 2 recently.Avoid.

*** This review contains spoilers *** I was a little skeptical when I began watching the film but boy did I change my mind quickly! Paul Sampson did an excellent job with everything and I hope he does more films as an actor, director and writer. This movie is destined to be a cult classic, especially with Norman Reedus fans. I like how the film "reincarnated" many characters. Some men came back as women for example. I applaud Paul for that clever idea. The fighting scenes were excellent. Billy Drago's scenes were humorous by playing a man dressed in drag. The film transforms from the past into the future smoothly and goes back and forth without confusing you. Thank you Paul for that.I am disappointed with those who panned the film heavily on here. They were either not paying attention, thinking of another film, or are just plain mean.If you are a fan of David Carradine and have yet to see this film, you must. This was his final role.

I had high expectations for this film ever since I saw the first trailer. The film's target audience seemed pretty predictable, but with Paul Sampson I knew he'd deliver more. I'm in love with his performance in "Whacked" and "Clown", and his versatility, so you already know he plans on succeeding on many levels, and as usual he doesn't disappoint. The beauty of it all is that this is an original story, and so I'm looking forward to ALL his future projects.Let me start by saying the story itself will start off kind of cryptic, but if you analyze it properly you'll keep up. The acting was so spot on with these characters, their beauty was only a plus. I had been worrying about Sofie Norman's capabilities, not having heard of her before, but she did great I must admit. Ingrid Sonray was my personal favorite, and she portrayed her character Amy perfectly. Norman Reedus was spectacular and Paul Sampson came off adorable and fun at times and when needed pretty damn menacing, showing the range that only few actors have and he commands at will. Udo Kier was fantastic as well, and Billy Drago played a very enjoyable character. You quickly embrace them all, despite the fact you know little about them to start with. I don't want to spoil anything but I will quickly go over what makes this film so enjoyable. The soundtrack and score were amazing to listen to, giving the film a very surreal feel to it. It keeps the film energetic yet appropriately ominous and dark when necessary. Every scene is just insane and a real treat to watch.Let alone being a superbly visual film overall, it works on a psychological stand point as well. Its themes are powerful, best summed up that reality can be harsh and cruel, but it is better to die true than live in damnation. I believe 'Night of the Templar' is going to be a hard hitter for 2013 and for years to come.
