Are you looking for a great sex comedy? Filled with funny jokes, one right after the other, and with a lot of steamy, hot sex scenes, one right after the other? Well, good! Keep looking, because this isn't it! Screwballs was one of the many "disaster films" of the early 80's, and I would safely assume almost all of its humor aims at an eighth grade level, maybe a grade or two below that in some other scenes. I don't believe I have ever viewed a movie in my life that relied so heavily on perversion. And, yes, I have seen most of the National Lampoon movies, along with American Pie and countless of other works that weren't afraid to bare it all. Unfortunately for Screwballs, it's in a class all by itself, due to its...moronic values, just to state one of the many imperfections. To shoot you straight, if this movie was a person, it would be the kid in the cafeteria sitting all by himself, because he doesn't fit in. That's the movie. And why it doesn't fit in, is simple: Nothing in the movie works here. The script is shallow, the mood is hollow, and it's beyond pointless. One of the factors that motivated me to write a review for this, just to mainly clear the air on the comparison between this and Porky's. Don't believe it, Porky's is the champ here. The reason why Porky's worked, was because a lot of people could actually root for the boys who got screwed over by the fat owner of the bar, they paid the money, and they didn't get what they wanted. In Screwballs, these boys are just pure dipsh*ts, and it's kind of hard to root for boys who are just possessed by a perversion from hell, that makes them want to get a shot of one young females chest. Are you kidding me??? It's not all gloom and doom, I will admit, there are about three scenes in the entire movie that I found were drop dead funny. It was the pool scene, the bowling scene, and the drive in movie scene...pretty priceless for an independent Canadian film maker, let me tell ya! A few quotable laugh lines, however, all the goodies added together can only safely clock up to six to seven minutes! The rest of the movie? Well, let's just say that it can't all be glitter and glamour. Although I didn't care for it, I would think that most people are going to know what they are getting themselves into, just by looking at the cover picture. And yes, some may laugh at the beach scene, but I thought it was the nail in the coffin, as I just didn't think it was funny, I felt they were beating a dead horse...if the credits would have rolled after that scene, I probably would have given it five stars. The reason why I gave it 4 stars? Well, let's just say there was something about the ending...and no, I don't give a ducks bill about Miss Liberty...there was just something about the ending...it's finally over....no more of this nonsense...it has finally ended....and then...they had to spawn about two sequels to this pathetic romp! Oh! My! For me, these balls just don't roll.

This movie is really amazing. For anyone who wants to have some fun without any moral standards I recommend this. Quite a movie to watch with some buddies drinking some beers and LOLing during the whole thing!!this kind of flick might seem stupid or superficial if you don't understand what you're going for here, I came to like this one after a series of failed 00's comedies, and for that I say that there's nothing like that 80s vibe that this one and so many more other movies have. I'll probably remember the final scene for the rest of my days as a movie fanatic.

Now if you watch/view this movie with "sentimental eyes", than you might enjoy this more. Also if you do weigh in the fact that it was made in a time, when it wasn't easy to come by nudity, you also will vote a bit more in favor of it. But time hasn't been good to the movie. It did not age well. There are a few very good and funny scenes here, but overall it has lost a lot of its "magic".There is nudity and there is a lot of foul jokes in there. It was obviously inspired by "Porkys" and other sex teen comedies. They don't deny that, they actually embrace it, if you watch the interviews on the disc. There's also a special from a website that is covering nudity in movies. For them, the movie is in the "Hall of fame" ... of teen comedies that is.

This film will definitely cause you to rewind a few times, and fast-forward a lot more, because huge sections of it are predictable and flat to the point of humorless. The four main male characters... I hated them, but they seem to be somewhat accurate. Rafal Zielinski is a competent director, and the editor has rendered some rather effective "speed up" gags. Here and there, a good line is said, or a good piece of physical comedy is shown, but it's usually the script, not the way it's delivered, that's funny. And most of the nudity... To be frank, you get sick of it by sheer repetition (Wow, EVERY character is sort a deviant... boring) and want to see a character you can actually like. Now, on to Linda Shayne,She's hardly a prolific director these days, and some of her material is borderline vomitably kid-oriented(Flying Ryan, Purple People Eater), but she is still skilled at suiting the needs of the right target audience. Plus, she is more attractive than the rest of the female cast combined. It's a shame that she couldn't have gotten herself the female lead as Purity: her acting skills and physique are much better. Much more likely to draw a guy like me over to the cause of feminism than Ann Coulter or Oprah WinfreyIn short, she's the reason I am really mad that the local movie rental has lost its copy of this tape.
