The cast and directing were good but the ending was shoddy, I expected them to be somehow separated, thrown in a jail or even executed for crossing the line, but not only it didn't happen but also the whole story was just a lie/simulation and it didn't happen between the actual persons. How can an app choose your perfect match so accurately and how can you even trust it? Men aren't also satisfied with just one woman even if they love her, they tend to unwantedly change their lovee in their life time. There was also too many unnecessary sex scenes. The good point of this already existing technology is that it isn't supposed to be applied to a side of one's forehead.

Nice surprise of a happy episode of Black Mirror, so much so that I just registered an account with IMDB to write this review! Love Black Mirror, and the actors chemistry worked! Wish we could've seen what happened next, but I get why we didn't.

This compatibility simulation apparently depends on the calculation of the probability that a simulated couple choose to ignore a rigid matchmaking system that's designed to break them apart to eventually be with each other. However, this couple, in reality, relies on the statistic from this simulation to know each other's compatibility and that result also informs subsequent actions. These two contradictory conditions are so subtly put together around one single plot line. It seems to be inconsistent; yet, it also makes so much sense given what we do in real life. We desire to be free; however, we seek to define a more convenient way of being truly free. In this case, this couple believes that, in order to find the most compatible love, the most reliable way is to use an inherently limiting online dating app that runs simulations evaluating the combined willingness of a couple to break free from predetermined dating rules to eventually be with each other. We desire so strongly that our love affairs are to be free from external rules. At the same time, we contemplate our subsequent actions in our love lives based on the results from computer simulations which are inevitably embedded with certain external rules. Ironically, these rules are framed around the concept of being free from rigid rules. So, the questions arise: Can love be determined by statistical compatibility? Are we truly free? Can we indeed be free, and how? Can the extent of freedom be evaluated with specific standards? Do the underlying rules of such an evaluation undermine the freedom itself? How do we derive our actions to peruse liberty if guidance on how to be free should not exist for the seek of the consistency? These questions are further complicated with the rapid technological advancement because us, modern human, are used to derive false hope from technology. What "technology" is to us is like what "religion" meant for our ancestors. However, technology is still unable to solve problems in our arbitrary lives. In facts, it adds a new layer to it. This episode is subtle but thought-provoking. That's why I feel this episode is quintessentially Black-Mirror despite the overwhelmingly romantic theme.

In a dystopic society, romantic encounters are scheduled by the A.I. System The Coach. When Frank meets Amy, they fall in love with each other but are forced to interrupt their relationship as per The Coach instruction and meet other partners. After many ups and downs, Amy and Frank decide to rebel against the system and cross the wall to live together in the wilderness. Will their plan work? "Hang the DJ" is a nice and pleasant, but pointless episode of "Black Mirror". Georgina Campbell and Joe Cole show wonderful chemistry but the plot has a disappointing and predictable conclusion. My vote is eight.Title (Brazil): "Hang the DJ"
